I am adopting a 2 year old black lab, unable to walk following surgery for a spinal tumour. Carl is in Salt Lake City, UT, I am in Raleigh, NC. I have been a volunteer driver for transports and have driven myself to pick up some of the special needs dogs I have, but Utah is a bit too far for me to drive! Does anyone have any experience in transporting long distance? I've had one dog flown to me free of charge by Delta, but she was a 5lb puppy, not a 60lb paralyzed adult. Any advice would be appreciated - I need to get Carl here asap so we can start rehab with him and have him evaluated by a neurologist. Many thanks Joanne

Actually there is some exciting news ....
PilotsnPaws is helping get Carl to NC. I am still waiting for definite confirmation but it looks like Carl will travel by car to Denver, then fly on to RDU next Thursday.
I'm now frantically rearranging my house, scouring the local goodwill for comforters and blankets and will be building a ramp tomorrow. I have 5 disabled dogs, but none that are paraplegic - I hope I get everything right!

****JUMPING UP AND DOWN!!!****
Are you a member of Freecycle? You can post your needs and go pick em up! Also contact decorating firms and hotels and see if they are getting rid of bedding as they redecorate.
