Re: Complications from bladder expression?
Thank you! That makes so much sense! We will ask on Monday when they do the ultrasound. My husband is so scared that something is damaged and serious. We are still waiting on the urine culture. I’m going to try that. Xoxo

Complications from bladder expression?
Thanks in advance for reading and taking the time to respond. Long time handicapped pet owner. We have a Westie named Lola born with a hemivertebrae who is paralyzed. We have had her for almost 8 years and she’s been this way since she was 5 months old. She has only had 2 or 3 UTIs in her life and w...

Re: Paralysis and Kidney Stones
Hello. It's been awhile since I posted something. This forum was incredible when my pup Lola was diagnosed with a hemivertebrae. Since surgery and treatment she has adjusted well to her cart and to be expressed. Yesterday she went to the vet and it looks like she has a UTI. Other tests came back ind...

Re: Boston Terrier puppy with hemivertebrae
I don't blame you. While it is possible that dogs born with hemivertebraes have other congenital deformities you would think the primary reason of concern would be the hemivertebrae and other issues will be addressed second. Why is his liver such a concern? Have they done labs of his liver enzymes? ...

Re: Boston Terrier puppy with hemivertebrae
Call me tomorrow. I've been through this and have so much information for you. But yes you should be cage resting him. And by cage rest I mean he is in the cage or resting on you unless he needs to pee. It's hard to do but if you do this the prednisone along with rest will reduce swelling and you ma...

Re: Boston Terrier puppy with hemivertebrae
I'm sorry to hear that. Did the doctor also tell you to cage rest him while on prednisone? I wouldn't nessesarily rule out surgery without a second opinion from the doctor I told you about. Lola's hemivertebrae is also from her neck to her shoulder blades and the neurologist at university of Florida...

So good to hear! I'm glad his surgery went well. The crate rest is the worst! But knowing its for their own good helps. He will be back up and running in no time. So happy it wasn't a hemivertebrae. Please keep us posted. Speedy recovery to Tank!

Re: Another slipped disc + hemivertebrae :(
Mark, Honestly in my opinion if the Hemivertebrae was severe like Lola's, Tank would have never walked past the age of 4 months. those are really severe cases. Most Bulldogs and bulldog like breeds normally have a hemivertebrae very low in their spine that causes their tail to curl. If they are born...

Re: Another slipped disc + hemivertebrae :(
Hi there, I'm Lola's owner. First of all I want to let you know how sorry I am. This is a tough time but I can tell you that it will get better. I highly highly recommend you go see Dr Clemmons at the Univeristy of Miami. Although it sounds to me that the hemivertebrae may not be as severe as Lola's...

Re: new to this: how do you provide water?
Crate her! Don't let her move around too much. These dogs sometimes have really down days. I know the situation may be different then mine but my Lola will have weeks of good days and then all of sudden one day she just won't feel better. Could the meds be rough on her tummy? That alone will seem li...
