Re: Managing incontinence in a paraparetic kitten (partial bladder control)

I agree with everything Critters said in the red. It sounds like you are very dedicated to this little guy and thank you for taking him and giving him such good care. I get more concerned about bladder infections so I express even my diapered boy who leaks out 3 times a day. I would also express bow...

Re: Incontinent (Urine/Stool) Cat with Chronic UTIs

I agree 100% with what Carol says---my cat Simon who passed earlier this year due to his pulmonary/heart related issues, had severe deformities and as a kitten I would express him 5-6 times a day, once when getting up, right before I left for work (I am an attorney too, although I am self-employed a...

Megan:

There is a disabled cat Thomas in New York, Brooklyn I think, that really needs a foster/adoptive home. The current foster is having difficulty expressing him. Please check out his facebook page at Save Thomas. Diana

Re: Dog hit by car. Need advise!!!

My cat Raven had brachial plexus nerve damage---got her arm caught in the cage door at the shelter and pulled and pulled until her arm went limp. I took her as they were going to euthanize her. My regular vet took off the bandage that the shelter vet had on and recommended no further tx other than w...

Re: Possible Manx Syndrome

Hopefully you have a vet who will work with you and Oreo---there is no reason to put her down. I don't know anything about Manx Syndrome but I have 3 cats with paralyzed back legs (one leans to the right, one to the left and one has legs who stick straight up) and have either bowel or bladder incont...

Re: Cat missing most of back legs -- prosthetic?

Hi Cheri: Personally I would not put my cat thru that. I have 3 with paralyzed back legs, one whose hind legs twist inward at the hock and another with no back feet. My cat Harley whose paralyzed legs stick straight up gets around fine (some of the other cats fear him as he chases them)---he has no ...

Simon: One of my greatest blessings

I know all of us are very thankful for our animals and especially those special needs ones. I am especially thankful for Simon and that people gave him a chance. I thought some of you would like to see the video that was played at the Colorado Animal Heroes award ceremony this month. Simon received ...

Re: Two paralyzed 8 wk females near San Antonio, TX need hom

I may be interested in adopting one of the kitties if you cannot find a home. I just adopted a 9 year old diabetic from DCIN so am somewhat hesitant. I agree completely with what Jean advised---I have 3 who have hind limb paralysis and actually Harley came from Texas. (I am in Colorado.) They can ha...

hi Jean:

I have her. BK (which formerly stood for Bad Kitty and now stands for Bella Kitty) flew to Colorado on 10/2---still working at regulating her and getting her BG levels down but she is a very sweet kitty---very compliant with having her ears poked for BG testing. Diana

Re: Cat with slow onset paralysis

I really think you need an accurate diagnosis of the reason for the paralysis (possibly see another vet) and I was unclear as to exactly what kind of heart condition Wednesday has. My cat Simon who is 8 years old has paralyzed back legs(he was born that way); he also is incontinent and I have been e...

Re: Luxating Patellas NEED HELP

And maybe there isn't rehab and limited physical activity for the luxating patellas only---I don't know. Raven also had the FHO for her hip so possibly that was all it was for. Possibly he is saying that it may get worse but it is not at the point yet. It may be helpful if you consult with an ortho ...

Re: tumor front left paw

Where is the tumor located on the paw? Is the vet saying it is cancerous---did he discuss with you doing a biopsy and could they surgically remove the tumor. Of course, I am not in a position of your vet who has seen your dog but both options he gave you seem pretty extreme to me.

Re: Luxating Patellas NEED HELP

I have a cat who had sx for a luxating patella and FHO about 6 years ago. She was about the age of your dog at the time. Given her age and if your vet is recommending it I would go ahead with it. Be prepared for the rehab and months of limited physical activity post op. Diana

Re: Constantly Constipated Cat.

I have a cat Glory who was thought to have some kind of compression injury at birth. Her back legs are paralyzed but she typically poops and pees on her own. Last year she got very constipated which I understand can happen even years later with injuries to the pelvis which heals such that the pelvic...
