Re: Cerebellum Ataxia

I may have already mentioned this so apoolgies if I have (I have memory issues myself due to cerebellar Ataxia!) but a weighted belt I got from the US helped me a few years back and I noticed recently somewhere an ad for weighted vests for dogs. Found it.. https://xdogvest.com/ They advertise it for...

Re: Cerebellum Ataxia

I have also been following a 'Forced Exercise' routine that has proven to work for parkinsons too. The idea behind it is you are exercising at a faster pace than you'd be able to do yourself so in humans they had a patient on the back of a tandem so the person in front was setting the pace or they u...

Re: Cerebellum Ataxia

I have Ataxia myself! When I was looking for doggy carts for my old girl whose back end was going I came across a dog walker which is similar to a walking frame for people with ataxia. All 4 of the dogs paws are on the ground but the frame around the dog helps steadies them. Small weights attached t...

Re: Adopting a DeafBlind puppy or dog

Hi again Thanks for your replies I'd completely forgot I posted this! I still don't have a deaf/blind pup, my old girl passed away just after her 15th birthday which hit me hard as she had literally been my whole support system for most of her life. (she used to alert me to sound and help around the...

Re: UK rescues for disabled pets?

Didn't think that had posted this morning! I couldn't get the pic to come up then I just kept getting a spinning circle for ages, had to give up and go get dressed and take JJ out!

I'll go check out those links.

Thanks

UK rescues for disabled pets?

As some of you may know I lost Inca last March aged 15. https://scontent-lht6-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/1916489_10208855787822787_8842718373108131236_n.jpg?oh=8f47eb90b0aa99f22224f9bc8644f365&oe=591E07F9 Inca 14/03/2001 - 22/03/2016 It has taken a long time to get over her I'm still not sure I am ...

Re: Front wheel carts in UK?

ok, I'm having another dilemma now. JJ has twice snapped at my friends partner today and growled at her, he's jumping on bed, growling then jumping off again at night like something else is there but there's only me in bed and I hadn't touched him. He did it so many times the other night I had to pu...

Front wheel carts in UK?

Does anyone know if you can buy front wheel carts in the UK? I've been asked if I'd consider fostering a tri paw, one of her front paws is missing and she's also deaf which is why they asked me (I'm deaf and use sign), I have no problems teaching her sign but she's a little overweight and I think ma...

Re: grade 3 heart murmur

According to their site she had been reserved but has also slipped her lead when out with her foster mum so there are lost posters up for her, she's right at other end of the country from me anyway but hopefully the people who've reserved her will be a good home for her if they find her again!

grade 3 heart murmur

As you know I lost my old girl a couple of weeks back. I was wondering if I could give another older dog that may have disabilities/medical issues an home that otherwise may not get it. I have seen a little Jack Russell, she's about 5 years old so past the puppy and adolescent stage and has a grade ...

Re: I think it's time

I did it yesterday morning. It was the most heart breaking decision I've ever had to make. I took Jay (my yuonger dog) out at 6am just round block and fed him and waited for vets to open then rang them to arrange it. They were meant to come 10.30am-11am but didn't turn up until nearly 11.30am and th...

I think it's time

Last week Inca was 15 years old, We'd had her little party a bit early as I wasn't sure she was going to make it, then she picked up again but since yesterday she seems to have decided its time. She only ate fresh chicken, not interested in playing with her puzzles or eating treats, usually even if ...

Re: Be Gentle: I know my dog is old

I'd never heard of balonmasa88. I'll watch later on other computer when I get up (in bed on laptop at minute and video's won't play for some reason) Inca can walk better on her front legs if I hold back up with a sling type, problem is that's not easy to do when I'm in a wheelchair or trying to bala...

Be Gentle: I know my dog is old

This came up on my FB feed. It's a good post and good point I've had people almost demanding to know if Inca gets out her bike trailer and walks, not that its any of their business! ... but there's no way she can keep up with a mobility scooter and a young collie. I could leave her at home every tim...

Inca's Sensory Mat

As I mentioned before I got my old girl the Buster Activity Mat for xmas..well it's been a great hit! She loves it and so does her lil bro Jay! It's great they can play side by side with them having such an age gap (she\s nearly 15 , he's just turned 3yo) and Inca is going blind and is disabled, and...
