Re: Dacshund paralyzed no muscle in butt
Hi Carol C; Good to hear from you again. Yes, when she first got paralyzed we did the exercises and took her to a Dr. who performs pt , got her laser therapy, water therapy.. you name it. The Dr. was awesome . She got to where she didn't want to do anything for her either. She's happy. The only thin...

Dacshund paralyzed no muscle in butt
Hi, My little girl early last year blew a disk. She had surgery & didn't recover from the paralysis. She fought me on therapy and the therapist . So, she's happy just scooting around. Hates the wheels. Long story short. :( She's lost muscle tone in her bottom. She weighs 13 #. She eats , she's c...

Prissy had spinal surgery 6 months ago. She is still disabled. However, now she is starting to get sores on her bottom. Also on her legs. At times she has reflexive leaks. Anyway, I'm worried. I've tried doggie pants, diapers, made them out of baby clothes .. you name it. I don't know what to do. I'...

Re: How do I do this w/ having other dogs?
I hear you. It is tough. We still just make it one day at a time. It's kind of normal now. We've got our routine. Don't give up. It sounds like you're doing awesome. I was a basket case. Thanks to the good Lord and Carol C; I made it thus far! LOL As far as the wheel chairs go to my knowledge they a...

Yes, I found some diapers that have the bottom w/ suspenders. I've not got them yet , but I hope they work.. That's a great idea.. I'm going to look into it. I ordered from China...LOL so I'm not sure when they'll be in.

Well, when I put the bloomers on her they came off. They seemed good fitting but I guess since she is sitting and walks sitting and using her front arms to walk. Then, if she gets in the puppy bed she drags herself into it.

Re: Reflexive urination???
Carol,
Do you think she could have partial bladder control? What would that be exactly?

How do I keep her from getting sores on her bottom?
Prissy is paralyzed and walks sitting on her bottom using her front feet to walk. I've tried the diaper and bloomers. Can anyone clue me in? LOL

Re: Reflexive urination???
no, I've gotten pretty good at the emptying. I've had the dr go behind me too. He told : Sometimes their reflexes get messed up so a stimulus in the rear elicits an inappropriate response. In this case perhaps something touching or rubbing her back end causes her bladder to reflexively contract maki...

Reflexive urination???
Question? Prissy I believe has started to have times where she releases some of her urine. Even though the bladder isn't full. She's in her sitting position as always. She walks w/ her front arms. It's not every day etc but... I asked the Dr. via email and he said it maybe reflexive urination. Does ...

Re: Laser Therapy
Thanks Carol; We have come to a crawl on improvements. We had acupuncture & hydro this week. She did ok. She's not working w/ me on the pt. I"ll be standing her & she's trying to sit down pushing back. The pt dr gave me the info that seems to help. I think sometimes she's just content w...

Re: Laser Therapy
Thanks. We decided to go with it. The rehab is costing allot. We are currently getting hydro & acupuncture. I'm thinking we're not going to be able to keep this up. The laser is doable though. I"m glad to hear it has helped you all. I know it's got to help, we just can't see it.

The Dr. says don't do either. Prissy doesn't like the cart though! She literally was getting depressed.
