Re: Hello from me and Harvey - now healed :-)

Happy News for Good Friday! Harvey hasn't needed expressed for 3 weeks now as he's weeing all by himself, not large ones but several smaller ones which are getting bigger all the time. He's been getting checked over every couple of days and today the vet discharged him from their care! He's a health...

Re: Hello from me and Harvey (hit by car, now incontinent)

This has been a great week for Harvey (and me!) - for 4 days in a row he barely needed expressed, just a small dribble and his bladder was pretty much emptied - that's because he's been doing bigger wees in his tray! Today he needed a bit more expressed but nowhere near like what it was a week ago. ...

Re: Hello from me and Harvey (hit by car, now incontinent)

Hi Carol

thanks for the information and very cute photos, but I should explain that he retains urine and only leaks slightly after taking his meds so a diaper wouldn't help. I'm trying to find a home for him with 2 people that can express to give him a chance.
Having a very hard time right now :-(

Re: Hello from me and Harvey (hit by car, now incontinent)

Soon it will be 8 weeks and Harvey is unable to be expressed by a single person. He's just one of those cats that won't stay still, hisses, scratches, bites, tenses up and absolutely hates it being done. Seven different vets have done it now and they ALL needed assistance. I've never yet managed to ...

Re: Hello from me and Harvey (hit by car, now incontinent)

Hi there Clare, Not sure it'll help but have you thought of trying to used a feliway plug is or spray to help him stay calm? Also trying wrapping him in towel we do with Nismo (her front paws and head) and it seems to make her calmer with the whole process. Do you have anyone to help you, maybe who...

Re: Hello from me and Harvey (hit by car, now incontinent)

Today has to be the worst day on this journey, two weeks he's been home and I've managed to express a small amount on 4 occasions. Today Harvey turned into a tasmanian devil and lashed out at my face and arms, howling and spitting - as a single person with no person to help whatsoever to hold him, I...

Re: Tail Pull Injury; hope for Nismo

Hi, that's fantastic news and very positive. Harvey has done the same recently, wee'd while licking his bits. He's also had lots of visits to his tray and in the last 2 days I've noticed some clumps of litter slightly larger than grape-sized. Im going to ask the vet today about getting acupunture as...

Re: Tail Pull Injury; hope for Nismo

Nismo is so sweet and I think you're doing fantastically well by managing her at home. I know it's difficult but just take each day as it happens and try not to think about the bigger picture as it will overwhelm you. You've already come this far and thinking about 6 weeks seems dreadful so just foc...

Re: Hello from me and Harvey (hit by car, now incontinent)

Hi LittleMo and Nismo, I'm so very sorry to hear about your situation as I know exactly what you're going through, it's a living #### and torture for the kittens, especially difficult as they're both so young, pretty much the same age in fact. I'm also believe that all this expressing etc is changin...

Re: Hello from me and Harvey (hit by car, now incontinent)

Thank you so much for your replies, they are supportive and helpful. Love the videos Carol - I tried the clip method with him but it did nothing  He's a feisty and strong character! Critters - 4 vets at the hospital expressed Harvey and all did it in different ways, 3 of them not good but the ...

Re: Hello from me and Harvey (hit by car, now incontinent)

Five weeks since the accident and I've had Harvey home for 4 days now and he's taken to the vet's for expressing once a day while they also show me what to do. I'm an utter failure so far.... I've tried so hard with him and found yesterday that massaging him on his rear end around the genitals made ...

Re: Whys it Seem Some Vets Are Quick to Suggest "Euthanasia"

Interesting reading all the comments. I personally don't think it's really up to a vet unless the animal is truly suffering.
Owners - well that's a different kettle of fish. x

Hello from me and Harvey (hit by car, now incontinent)

Hi, I've been reading this forum for a couple of weeks now and it has given me positive feeling and some hope, thank you all for that. Sorry this is so long. On 13 December 2015 my beautiful 9 month old Harvey was bitten and chased by another animal into the path of a car and has been in the vet's s...
