Steroid use long term
Quick over view. Peppa suffered an injury which caused acute disc explosion which caused paralysis. Steroids seem to help her walk, the neurologist does not know why... But it does. She can walk pretty well on 10mg but if dropped to 5mg she quickly declined, have also tried 10mg every other day but ...

Re: Muscle spasms in spinal cord injury recovery
Thank you. Maybe she has just over done it as she's been very active both in her wheels and walking around the house. Because her situation has baffled the neurologist I don't feel ringing anyone would help or her seeing anyone. I have contacted the vet for advice, she's OK in herself, I think maybe...

Muscle spasms in spinal cord injury recovery
Peppa ruptured disc chasing a ball, injuring her spinal cord. This was 1 year ago. Her recovery was slow but when put on steriods 6 months in she started to be able to move her back legs more and do a kind of walking /bunny hop. Over the past few weeks she has been doing amazing and getrinf stronger...

Devices to encourage leg movement in wheels
Hi Peppa now has some wheels which she loves, she has also gained some movement in her legs and gets around the house a bit using them. I wondered if there was anything I could use with her legs to encourage her to use them while on wheels, she currently uses the stirrups and kicks them in their but...

Hi, is anyone still active on this post? My dog suffered exactly the same injury and we are now 1 year on.

Re: Paralyzed dog with FCE
Hi I am sorry to hear about your poor baby. My dog suffered from ANNPE which is an acute non compressive disk herniation. Very similar symptoms to FCE and the same treatments advised. The initial diagnosis was FCE but an MRI confirmed the disk ruptured. She too had severe almost immediate muscle was...

Re: New to site. Spinal injury, paralysis dog
I have not been on the site for a while, we have seen little progress but not much. Until yesterday! Peppa has been prescribed steroids for an allergy and chronic itching and since taking them she has made huge progress with her walking and taking steps, could this be down to the steroids or a compl...

Has anyone e...

Treadmill hydrotherapy is going well and she can do some steps on her own, the muscle is building back up slowiy and the physio is really pleased with her. Had an ear problem so to...
