Re: FCE, no deep pain and hind legs paralysed - any success stories?

Hi Teree! I wanted to let you know that I had the exact same situation happen to us and our dog 2 years and 3 months later is still alive and doing well! I know exactly what you're going through right now and we experienced the same types of response with our vet. Our dog has never regained her abil...

Re: Paralyzed dog with FCE

TWO Year Update!! Wow this has been an entirely long overdue post and it feels surreal to even be sitting here today! I wanted to stop in and give an update on Stella to hopefully inspire and let others know it can be done. If you had told me that during the first 6 months that I would become a succ...

Re: Paralyzed dog with FCE

Hi there!! Looking for some advice again! Stella is wrapping up her antibiotic for her staph infection and I need some guidance. First off our vet prescribed her bethanechol at the same time as her anti biotic. I thought is was just for backup in case I ever needed to give it to her but she was quit...

Re: Paralyzed dog with FCE

HI thank you for that information. We got the results back and it is in fact another uti but a totally different kind. The first time it was ecoli and proteus and this time it is a staph infection. I cannot understand how/where she got this and it breaks my heart. I got her medicine cefpodoxime and ...

Re: Paralyzed dog with FCE

So the green yellow tint went away and it went back to a clear discharge but I took her in anyway this morning for her ultrasound and urine draw. I will let you know the results. The ultrasound bladder image looked the exact same as it did last time which is very cloudy and almost like what I imagin...

Re: Paralyzed dog with FCE

Hi quick update/ opinion? As you know Stella had a bladder infection back in April and we finished antibiotics around May 5 and she has been great. The past week I did notice a bit of clear discharge but no odor or leaking urine so I wasn’t alarmed. Today I noticed that the discharge after expressin...

Re: Paralyzed dog with FCE

You’re so right it’s hard to know what will come. She doesn’t respond to the toe skin pinch test but did to the large needle so I’m thinking it’s the very beginning of it returning. There is no kicking in her hydrotherapy but he did say he hamstring muscle are firing up we just want to see her pull ...

Re: Paralyzed dog with FCE

Yes I am so very hopeful she may start to help us with peeing. It’s strange even though she does now have deep pain she cannot feel me touch her low back and makes no indication of having control or ability to stand. Could it be that it’s very diminished and she isn’t feeling much yet? What do you t...

Re: Paralyzed dog with FCE

Thank you for the encouragement! Yes I intend on us continue going to the hydrotherapy especially because it is good for her heart and joints. Once it warms here I can take her daily into the pool. She still hates the water but it’s good for her. Also forgot to post this because I didn’t really regi...

Re: Paralyzed dog with FCE

HI Carol! Wow thank you so so much for all that information. It took me a few days to go through it and I still have more research to do but I appreciate the direction you've given me. Re: Paralyzed dog with FCE

Hi!! Thank you for the good thoughts! I’ve been meaning to post but have been so busy. The updates since last time is I took her into the new vet and had them do a urine culture and sure enough she still had a uti and it was ecoli that was resistant to Clavamox hence why it came back 1 day after we ...

Re: Paralyzed dog with FCE

Hi carol, I am going to be taking Stella into the vet tomorrow, I’m worried once again her urine has a terrible smell but Unlike when she had the uti and it smelled like ammonia. I don’t know how to describe the odor this time. She also tried to eat a little green plant outside because we do not hav...
