Re: Paralyzed dog with knee problems...

Thank you for your reply Carol! It really helped me. The thing with his leg is that it's always been kinda bad since the surgery. It was hard to move it from the beginning and the vet told us that he probably couldn't use it properly if he would walk again. So that's nothing new... It's just that th...

Paralyzed dog with knee problems...

Hey, it's me again! To give a little recap: Fox had a prolapsed disc one year ago. He underwent surgery and since then he is paralyzed in his back legs. Two months ago he got his wheelchair and life has been pretty good since then! Well... until a few weeks ago. My husband and I still do some exerci...

Re: Paralyzed dog and my worries

Yeah, you're absolutely right! At first I thought "oh well, at least I can carry him". But I knew after a few weeks that I can't do that forever. It's so exhausting! I can and will try this! :) I was also very shocked. My doctor said it's fine for now. Not good, but also not too drastic. T...

Re: Paralyzed dog and my worries

Oh, no! My dog isn't that big. He weighs around 12-13kg / 26-28 lbs. It's more because he is so small (he is a dachshund/aussie mix). I always have to bend over, carry him around and the carrying aid is a bit too long, so I always have to tense up my arm a bit. I just got the diagnosis that I have m...

Paralyzed dog and my worries

Hey guys! I wrote a post in this forum a few months ago, when everything was still kinda fresh. To give a brief summary: my dog, Fox, had several prolapsed discs and got paralyzed in his hind legs. In the beginnig he couldn't pee, wag his tail or walk. Now (9 months later) he can pee, he can somewha...

Re: New here - could use some advice!

Thank you for the reply and welcoming me! :D That's what I thought! He can't walk yet and I think it might take some more time. I just thought it would be nice for him to move around a bit more and as you said, he can also use it in rehab and if he might start walking again. I will continue taking h...

New here - could use some advice!

Hey there - I found this forum while looking for some helpful advice online. My dog, Fox (half dachshund, half aussie), had a ruptured spinal disc in september. I woke up that saturday morning because he was whimpering and then I noticed that he couldn't move his hind legs anymore. We instantly drov...
