Re: Newbie

Thanks for the answers. I am glad you have him on cage rest. And I am glad he is on prednisone and a stomach tablet. I hope they mean cage rest for one week and then a followup at one week for further instructions. It takes a full 6-8 weeks for a disk to heal, and if the dog is allowed activity when...

Re: Please help new to this Skipper my dog is lame both back legs

haven't been on line Too much rain here 7" everyday for a week and still coming down had to pick up a few trees, small limb came through roof You sound kind of tired. That much rain would be enough to wear me out. 7" a day for 7 days is like, 49 inches? You mean you got 4 feet of rain in a week? :s...

Re: Newbie

:banner: What kind of dog is he? How much does he weigh? When you say no feeling in the rear end, did they test for what is called "deep pain sensation"? What did they recommend as far as surgery or no surgery? Is he on any medication? The single most important advice about caring for him at home is...

Re: Cat Tail Pull Injury & Urination

Hi all, thanks for your encouraging responses. Gosha is on Prazosin to help with urination/expressing the bladder, as well as Miralax and psyllium husk powder for loosening the stool. He's also on Gabapentin for pain and we'll be weaning him off Buprenorphine soon. Are there any specific medication...

Re: Cat Tail Pull Injury & Urination

That is encouraging about the positive signs they have noted. There's really no way that I know of to speed up recovery, the nerves are going to heal on their own schedule. I would say a month is too soon to guess the outcome, and what you are seeing at one month does not indicate where you will be ...

Kitty face wash and brush

https://www.marthastewart.com/244483/kitty-face-wash-and-brush Just wanted to share this video because it actually helped me a lot. I have a senior kitty who gets food on her face and I wasn't sure the best way to get it clean, and I was sure I'd upset her if I tried. The groomer uses cotton pads an...

Re: Science Diet w/d reformulated again

Just to follow up, I've been giving Dolly half and half old formula w/d and new formula w/d and there is no change in her stool quality, still just as good. :)

Science Diet w/d reformulated again

The kibbles are flatter, so maybe they will be easier to chew. It looks darker and smells stronger. I'm going to have to mix it with the old bag. The dogs ate it when I gave it as treats, but the gal at the vet said a number of people have called saying their dog wouldn't eat it. Wish they would jus...

Re: Duck with degenerative joint disease

Yeah, that's a shame, it looks perfect. When I first saw it I thought it looked big, then I read what they said. I wonder why they don't make an adult size. Did you try also messaging them on facebook maybe?

Re: Please help new to this Skipper my dog is lame both back legs

We have to have everything unscented here, too. Partly I prefer it that way but also I have one pet with allergies who really needs unscented. I used to use Sun free and clear but they don't seem to make the small bottles anymore. Lately I've been using Purex fee and clear, it's the cheapest free an...

Re: Duck with degenerative joint disease

I wonder if you could take a duck boot and improvise something to prevent toe drop. But if it is curling from a contracture, a vet might be able to hopefully treat(?) whatever is going on with his hock that is causing it? Here is an example of a duck boot. http://www.hensaver.com/Birdy-Bootie.html H...

Re: Please help new to this Skipper my dog is lame both back legs

Happy Birthday, Skipper! :newyear: :5balloons: :cake: :present:  No improvement on Skipper's trying to walk though, he is trying to stand more when he eats and drinks Good for him! It takes a lot of balance to stand in one place, it's harder than it seems. I hope the pool tent is still workin...
