Re: Interesting drag...sock?

I wondered the same thing. Best guess would be, for a right-handed person, someone puts their right arm through the legging all the way so their hand comes out the other end. Then with that right hand they take hold of the kitty around the waist or tummy maybe? And with the other free hand (left han...

Interesting drag...sock?

Not sure what this is. She's a small cat, not a kitten, so it might be too big to be a sock, but if it isn't a sock, what is it? They're using it as a purrmaid sack. Found on Petfinder . dl5zpyw5k3jeb.cloudfront.jpg Using Google image search, I see something called footless tights that is similar. 2...

Re: Another broken back brown tabby at the vet

That is so cool, that he's in the big bathtub and actually plays with toys! I love the last two pictures, especially the last one. He's Mama's boy for sure. Glad he's home!

Re: Another broken back brown tabby at the vet

Ohhh. :( I hope so, too. Medicine has advanced since then. I know you'll do everything possible, and I hope this time it works.

Re: Pip diagnosis - Central cord syndrome

I've been wanting to get something in his vet record and possibly make a sign over his playpen to tell people what to look for. I'm worried if anything happens to me, nobody will know that he overheats, or what his panting looks like. I've never known a dog like this before, that pants like a goldf...

Re: Pip diagnosis - Central cord syndrome

Pip overheated today. Very badly. It was 70 degrees out! Yes, he's black, and yes, he was in the sun, but it was 70 degrees! It took him a long time to get back to normal with cooling him off and giving him as much soy milk as he could drink. I couldn't believe it. He wasn't out there that long. I w...

Re: Pip diagnosis - Central cord syndrome

He drank his soy milk this morning! I'd say now he's back to normal. His last Rimadyl was last night. I wonder if that had anything to do with it.

Re: Pip diagnosis - Central cord syndrome

Well, it's the morning after his dental and this is the hardest I've ever seen a pet take a dental. Wouldn't eat his breakfast (slurry). Ate half a jar of Gerber chicken. Didn't want soy milk. He hasn't had any fluids since Sunday night at 10 because this is the dog that doesn't drink water and gets...

Re: Pip diagnosis - Central cord syndrome

He's done great with the Clavamox, no sign of diarrhea. He's at the vet now, checked in for his dental, and I'm supposed to call them at 2:30. :waiting: EDIT TO ADD: He had his dental, they did 8 extractions. It's nearly 8 pm and he's still fairly zonked, just lying there quietly not moving or barki...

Re: Pip diagnosis - Central cord syndrome

It could happen any time he hits his head or puts pressure on his neck. For example he kicked himself into the base of the carpeted kitty castle once during toileting. He presses his head sideways against the net side of the playpen when he bounces off of it changing position. He is always standing,...

Re: ANNPE and behaviour

With a bigger dog, you have to get creative! :smart: Some people use a doggie ramp ramp_.jpg or doggie steps with a rear harness to get into the car. (old link, search "folding pet steps for car" online) dog2v2.jpg Here is an example where the back seat was removed from the car, the car wa...

Re: Using the stairs

And I guess it's better to be cautious than rush, but I've seen posts talking about using steps as part of PT. Also we used the stairs to build muscle in his thigh when he lost ot feom limping due to laxity. So it just seema a bit crazy. Hi Otis's friend, I totally agree it's confusing. Part of the...

Re: ANNPE and behaviour

OK, he's in the medium range. When you have a dog that size, you think, "20 kg, that's not too bad. Glad I can pick him up. Thank goodness he isn't 50 kg." Well, that's true. But at the same time, the 20kg size are the ones that can get you in trouble because you are tempted to lift the wh...

Re: Using the stairs

I've never heard of anyone being told not to do stairs with ANNPE, but ANNPE is a relatively new diagnosis and perhaps they are learning more about how best to manage it. Not doing stairs is standard with IVDD (intervertebral disk disease) and it sounds like they are treating it like an IVDD disk in...
