Re: Pip diagnosis - Central cord syndrome

I've got Gerber turkey baby food on hand and could try some water with baby food. May do that tomorrow if today's idea doesn't work. :thankyou: This may be a dumb idea, but I made Knox blox with 1 packet gelatine, 1/4c soy milk instead of cold water, and 3/4 boiling water. I'm not even sure it will ...

Re: Paralyzed on both right legs. (Only one side)

Hi alhy1414@gmail.com, :banner: That is really good news that her neck moves freely and she is not in pain. Yes, it is definitely possible for a dog to be paralyzed in 2 legs on the same side. It's called hemiplegia. There have been other dogs like that here. It isn't as common as being rear paralyz...

Re: Pip diagnosis - Central cord syndrome

Did you try it? Make one into a bed? I've been doing something slightly different with Pip. Sometimes, and more often lately, he won't want his Knox blox. He likes them the day they're made, not so well the second day, often turns his nose up the third day. I dump any leftovers the end of Day 3. Thi...

Re: Newbie! Needing advice re knuckling and stiff feet

Wow! It sounds like he really keeps you busy with a complete program of accomodations addressing every situation. The term "special needs" certainly fits, doesn't it. I did not go through and count all the little things you are doing to make this work, but it's a lot. It's one of those cas...

Re: Issue with front legs sliding out

It doesn't look like she's sliding out as far, but it looks like she's not bearing weight on the left front. Her paw knuckles under at one point. That could be neurological or it could be she's just holding it up off the ground, I can't tell which. Did the vet give her an exercise restriction or say...

Re: Newbie! Needing advice re knuckling and stiff feet

Hi JimmyMac12, Thought of you today because another dog is needing custom support (not a greyhound, and not boots) and it reminded me of what you went through fitting Jimmy. By coincidence it was a year ago today that you first posted. Normally I don't keep track, it just worked out that way today! ...

Re: Issue with front legs sliding out

I think this one by Dogleggs is done custom. They provide the form. You give the measurements. https://www.dogleggs.com/vest-for-shoulder-stabilization/ The Canadian company says they do custom, but I don't see an order form. Here is their claim on custom work. https://animalrehab.on.ca/index.php/po...

Re: Issue with front legs sliding out

OK, good. Sorry, it was hard to be sure what I was seeing in the video. Glad it is mainly the front for your little friend.
:hearts:

This is a different situation, but the video is so cute.

Pip jumped in his bed this morning!

I heard him do it, turned around from getting breakfasts, and he was in his bed! Our morning routine is, I take him out to potty, bring him in, put him in the middle of the living room floor, and give him a sponge bath with 3 warm wet washcloths to start the day. Then I leave him there to either dry...

Re: Issue with front legs sliding out

Wow! I don't know anything about that condition, but rehab sounds like a smart way to go. Canine sports medicine. Maybe swimming? :swim: I tore the ligaments in my back and did months of PT. They're not 100% but it did help. The only thing is, I don't quite see how a shoulder injury would make her h...

Re: Issue with front legs sliding out

Yes, they definitely have their own opinions! What can you do? :pardon:

I hope you'll post anything you find out, or any solutions for the sliding that work. It may help another dog someday.

Re: Pip diagnosis - Central cord syndrome

Yeah, he doesn't seem to have zaps in that area of his back that I know of. Not biting at it or anything. But he overreacts to light touch. It's been over 3 years since his paralysis. He used to spring himself right out of his bed due to spasms, like a mousetrap going off and flipping itself up in t...

Re: Issue with front legs sliding out

Thanks for posting the videos. :thankyou: I see what you mean. She's trucking along pretty good in that first video, really good for a little 14 year old dog. Then she kind of does the Bambi on ice thing in the second video. Her left front flails and she doesn't set it down all the way. I've never s...

Re: Issue with front legs sliding out

I see what you mean. It's like her left leg did not take that next step. Does she ever drag her claws on that foot or skin the tops of her knuckles? Has she been examined since she started doing this? Just to see if it is something neurological? Does she let you pet her head? At first I w...
