Re: Using the stairs

This is a really great response. Thank you for taking so much time to explain things so well. The neuro went through the various possibilities with me before the MRI, including FCE and Hansen I and II, so I feel she was really clear then. Then she showed me the images and how it related to ANNPE, so...

Re: Using the stairs

There was definitely a copy and paste element going on. And I guess it's better to be cautious than rush, but I've seen posts talking about using steps as part of PT. Also we used the stairs to build muscle in his thigh when he lost ot feom limping due to laxity. So it just seema a bit crazy. That h...

Re: ANNPE and behaviour

You are 100% right. He is a bit heavy for me and I absolutely must be careful. Fortiunately I don't have to lift him too much and I was used to lifting him into the car from before when his hip was bad. What so people with really big dogs do?

Using the stairs

My dog was diagnosed with ANNPE on Saturday after becoming paralysed on Friday. He seema to be doing well, but the contusion was bad (the neuro thought c.65% whwn he was discharged on Sunday, but the letter that's just come through says nearly 80% eek). He's wobbly, but walking. His left leg is stif...

Re: ANNPE and behaviour

Those are good tips. Thanks. He's a 20kg Border Collie. He was crate trained as a puppy and weaned off that at about 8 months when he got too big. We've set up a pen for him now and it is easier for is, but he's also able to move around a bit. The vet said he only needed room rest, but the pen stops...

Re: ANNPE and behaviour

Ah right, thanks. I've seen other people mention this. I've just looked it up and it says it can cause a wobbly gait, so maybe that's why they haven't given it. I'll bear it in mind to ask though. We've had a pretty good day today. I think we're getting the hang of this. His bladder and bowels seem ...

Re: ANNPE and behaviour

:welcomepigs: thank you for your reply and reassurance. The neurologist did show us the images and it was more on the left, so it totally explains why his left is weak. I posted my message early this morning and had only got him back the afternoon before, so I should remember it's early days. I've s...

ANNPE and behaviour

Hi, first of all sorry for the long post. My dog experienced a spinal cord injury on Friday. He's been diagnosed with ANNPE. The contusion is quite bad, c. 65%. When it happened he was completely paralysed at the back, but his right leg seems to have recovered. His left leg is very wobbly and weak a...
