Re: Adorable, loving 2 pound chihuahua puppy needs caregiver.

Update - We've made it through one year with Brooklyn. Quite a change from our first night with her. For any of you out there who think you can't "do" it - care for a special needs pet - here is encouragement - you CAN do it! Thanks to everyone for all of the advice and support over the pa...

I agree with all of you. I tend to just blow it off. Still makes me mad though. You know, if there is an abused animal on the news, who is newly handicapped, there is an outpouring of love, donations, adoptions. But if you have your own pet who was not abused, but needs the same kind of care, we are...

Thanks - my chin is up - it makes me mad when my so called friends think I'm off my rocker. Complete strangers are more compassionate. Whatever though, thanks for the encouragement. Amy

I agree with all of you. My family and true friends are supportive and offer help in making diapers, babysitting, etc. It's just the people I work with really. Real catty, and you know how people talk. I don't care if they talk about me. It upsets me that they talk about Brooklyn, as if she is some ...

"Friends" who roll their eyes at me.

Am I the only one who has friends who tell me I am absolutely crazy or just plain dumb for taking care of a dog in diapers? I usually spend all this time explaining her situation, etc. but it comes up ALL the time. What do you tell people who really just need to mind their own business without being...

Kim, Haley is SO cute. She is a beautiful dog. I can't believe you got those sunglasses! I saw some that looked like BabyPhat and I just laughed. Her color is beautiful. I can tell she is your baby and once things settle down, it'll all be so much easier and not so much a crisis. I'm sure we've all ...

I'm glad to hear the pumpkin is doing the trick for you. It's good for her too! I can't believe how much those poise pads cost. unreal. I'm glad Brooklyn is 3.5 pounds. I couldn't afford pads for a bigger bladder!! Best of luck...it gets easier, huh? Oh, while we are on this subject, I had read in p...

California marketing thinks "Dried Plum" is more appealing to the public. Brooklyn loves fruit, and she was begging me, so I caved. I guess you should just sign me up for Mother of the Year. I might as well have given her a bottle of X-Lax. Prune, dried plum, geez...what a moron...what was...

I don't have advice about a harness, but girl, you have to take care of your back. I have had 2 back surgeries, no fun. Please google proper lifting techniques and back exercises for yourself. You can't keep lifting when your back is hurting, it might get worse. I hope your thaw comes soon, meanwhil...

Did he sleep all night when he was in bed with you guys before? Or did he wake up and jump down in the middle of the night? You can't keep losing sleep like that. Gosh, am I hateful or what? When Brooklyn had to stay in her crate at first, she whined and cried and barked and we lost sleep. So, I mov...

I'm glad I'm not the only one who "cussed and cried" at the beginning! I thought I was a bad person for feeling that way. No more cussing and crying now though. Just lots of love and affection. And I have actually come to like her diapers. They are cute instead of a pain in the behind. Wel...
