strange behavior in my st. bernard/aussie mix
Anyone have an idea about this?? My St bernard/aussie mix, Gus, sucks on the skin between his hip and belly. (the skin is sort of like the webbing between our thumb and first finger.) He only does this on the right side. A few days ago I saw him holding his leg up and trying to rotate it around and ...

no meds for Jack
Thanks Carol, After seeing all the side effects and warnings, I think I'll not be using any of these on my baby. I can't believe people would give these to children with CP. The risks wouldn't be worth it to me. I may try the natural herbs and let you all know how that goes. Thanks everyone for your...

meds for cerebral palsy
I spoke with an emergency room doc about something totallt unrelated, but she mentioned that Dantrolene works for cerebral palsy by relaxing muscles and relieving pain. Also Diazepam, Baclofen, and Flexeril are used. I don't want him to be knocked out all the time, just relaxed enough to get some re...

Any info. on meds for C.H. dog?
I've had my C.H. dog for a year now and it is so painful for me to watch him trying to get around. Yesterday he got going so fast he lost control and smashed into the side of my house. I try to keep up and "SPOT" him, but don't always get there in time. I know there is a med for people wit...

Is blindness linked to CH?
Hi all, My CH dog Jack is slowly losing his sight. Does anyone know if this could be linked to his disability? I know that people with Cerebral Palsy also have sight problems although not necessarily blindness. I can't find much online and hoped someone here might know about this. Lisa

Re: Dog with Cerebellar Hypoplasia
I wrote about my CH dog on the Caretakers Cafe. Thanks for your interest, I found that the web doesn't offer much practical help for us as caretakers. See ya, Lisa

Re: Update on Weebles
What a totally small world!!! Jack is doing O.K. He weighs 42 lbs. and looks more like Noodle than Weebles. Only all tan colored, with short hair. Chelsea looks like a border collie with a beard and wiry hair. I'd guess some wiry terrier in the mix. We've just discovered that Jack is slowly losing hi...

Re: Update on Weebles
I'm new here and missed your first posts about Weebles. I'm curious to know if you got him from Iowa. (from a gal named Danielle) If so, I have a brother and sister of his. Jack, the boy has cerebellar hypoplasia bot Chelsea the girl doesn't. He is the watchdog of the family and detests strangers. H...

By the way, I'm new so hello everyone!Of my four dogs, this is the only one that hates strangers and guards both me and the house. He can't walk far without falling over backward or crashing onto his chin. Is a whe...
