Just to update- we've been offline for a while since we moved, and had computer crashing issues prior to moving. Lilly is doing well. Obviously she stayed with us. She had the rest of her tail amputated and can now poop without getting feces stuck under her tail. Giving her a bath every day was too ...

Just a Lilly update... (Obviously we wound up keeping her...) She recently had what little tail she had amputated. What a difference! She can go in the litter box and actually pee and poop without getting everything stuck under her tail. I think she may have a neuropathy of some sort, because she ne...

Re: Manx syndrome questions
Thanks so much for your replies! I don't think I posted on Homesteaders, that doesn't sound familiar to me. So everything I have heard that she will get worse isn't true? I really couldn't find a lot about it on the internet. Everything I did find was very negative. I had someone who was wanting to ...

Re: Manx syndrome questions
Thanks for replying to my post!! I won't give up, don't worry!! I'm familiar enough with Lilly's condition that I'm comfortable caring for her now. It makes me angry that I suggested her problem was related to her deformed tail and her "hoppiness" and the vet said it wasn't. I have a medic...

Manx syndrome questions
We have a female kitten,Lilly, she is 5 months old. She was born here in our home. We are fostering a momma cat and her 3 remaining kittens until they are adopted, she is one of those kittens. Lilly started showing signs of urinary incontinence and problems walking, she hops rather than walks. We ha...

Re: Update on Lilly, my foster kitten
Yeah, she is adorable!! Not too sure about us keeping her, our beagle is not cat friendly in the least. She would have to be confined to the upstairs while we weren't home, we would bring her downstairs in the evening with Sam in the bedroom- securely in the bedroom! I guess that's what she is used ...

Re: Update on Lilly, my foster kitten
Hi, thanks for the responses everyone. We already have a special needs beagle, her name is Sam. http://www.handicappedpets.com/gallery/sam0605/ I am used to expressing an animal, so that isn't a big deal to me at all. Lilly can walk, run, climb, and scratch herself just like the other kittens. She j...

Update on Lilly, my foster kitten
The kittens went to the vet today, and the news for Lilly is not good. The vet thinks she has nerve damage, causing her problem with her hind legs and her incontinence. He didn't really do an extensive exam, just looked at her legs and commented that she doesn't seem to have any proprioception. He d...

Re: What is a good dog food so that molly has harder poops
California Natural is a good food. All 3 of my dogs are on it. They have less stool and it is a firmer stool too.

Re: Link/advice on how to express a kitten/cat?
She is the only kitten that has urine on her fur. If it isn't just leaking out,as with incontinence, why is it there? I have Sam because the rescue we were fostering her for wanted to euth her, because of her bladder and bowel problems. This is the same rescue we are fostering the kittens and momma ...

Link/advice on how to express a kitten/cat?
Well my little foster girl Lilly is indeed incontinent. She is bouncing around on her hind legs like a little bunny, when she really wants to get somewhere quick! She drags them behind her most of the time but can walk on them. Are there any links for expressing a cat? I have my Sam who has a neurol...

Re: Anyone in the Paducah, Ky or Metropolis, Il areas?
I'm calling Project Hope later this afternoon, they don't open until 1PM. I could not believe the response from the other rescue. If I were close enough I would go to the house myself.

Re: Anyone in the Paducah, Ky or Metropolis, Il areas?
I received this response from the Paducah, Ky. rescue... was on vacation last week and am catching up on e-mail. We rely solely on foster homes and all ours are full now. I’d suggest Project Hope. 618.524.8939 – they’re taking in a lot of animals right now. I wasn't asking them to take a puppy in, j...

Re: Anyone in the Paducah, Ky or Metropolis, Il areas?
I have contacted a rescue in Metropolis and one in Paducah as well.
Neither place has responded to my e-mail about the situation.
Hopefully they will by tomorrow, or I will call the shelters myself.
