Dogs: Pete: 3 Years and still hope!
It will be 3 years next week since Pete had his accident. I have not given up hope as there is still SLOW progress. We still walk 2 miles every day, do his exercises, and swim when possible. He still takes all his vitamins and minerals. He may not walk but he is healthy, happy and loved. We will hav...

Re: Chewing feet/physical therapy
Pete chewed his feet just above the 1st joint. He almost chewed them off. It was down to the bone and just a big hole. It took about 9 months till he got used to the feeling slowly returning to stop. We put every gross tasting stuff you could think of but it did not stop him. We used a E-collar when...

Re: Muscular: Rehabilitation
When Pete first came to live with me his rear end was just bone. I do not know how big your dog is but with Pete I could stand him on the ground with me behind him with my hands locked behind his legs and make him stand. We would then add a little bounce or use an exercise ball and roll him back and...

Dogs: Pete
Pete had not chewed his feet for over 1 year and for some reason thought he would give them another try last week. He did not chew to the degree he did last time but enough that he will not use it to stand and holds it in the air. With Pete it is always 3 steps forward and 2 back.

I mix it in about 1/4 cup and pour it on his food. Just remember Pete is ruled by food and will eat most anything. You might have to try adding something he likes at first till he gets used to it.

Re: Dogs: Paralysis
It will be 3 years in May since Petes accident. He had no feeling for 15 months. He had no bowel or bladder control. Now here we are almost 3 years later and still improving. He does not dribble all the time anymore and he just wears a diaper at night. He still gets expressed morning and night but t...

Re: Dogs: Frequent Bladder Infections
Someone told me to give Pete 2 tbs cinnamon 1 tsp honey in warm water once a week. Do not know if it works but Pete has not had a bladder infection in 6 months.

Re: THANKS!!!
I have a Jack Russell who had an accident May 20,2003. I have had him for 20 months now and when he came he had no feeling in his back legs. His name is Pete. He is now one of the most healthy and happy dogs you will find. He still does not walk properly (table walks 15-20 feet) stands on his own wh...

Re: Dogs: Anxiety
Pete used to eat his rear feet when left alone. I had to take him everywhere with me. I started leaving him for 5 minutes at a time several times a day. We kept increasing the time period every couple of weeks and now he stays alone 3-4 hours no problem. The 3-4 hours is as long as his bladder will ...

Dogs: Pete: something new
I am so excited that I had to share this with people who care. I just got home from work and let Pete out for a pee. When he wanted in he came to the deck (which has one step up) barked, was standing on all fours, put his 2 front feet on the deck and pushed himself up with his rear legs. I know this...
