Re: Cat with sudden hind end weakness

:thankyou: I'm getting to the point where I can talk about Dillon without crying (at least most of the time). She's at peace and not in pain and I take great comfort in that. At least our animal friends are lucky that they have us to take away their suffering. My sister is an ICU nurse and she sees ...

Re: Cat with sudden hind end weakness

Thank you everyone who's given me support! :thankyou: Christine, it looks like Baily was just as special to you as my Dillon was to me. Baily's photo make me want to kiss her right on the nose!! Tonight I'm going through moments of sadness, guilt, thankfulness, etc. which I'm certain everyone ...

Re: Cat with sudden hind end weakness

Thanks to everyone who responded! Sadly, my Dillon is no longer with us. She was peeing a little bit here and there but hadn't had a BM in days. Last night I stayed up with her all night because she was very restless. Her abdomen became distended so I knew it was bad. My hubby took her to our vet th...

Re: Very sad new Amputee owner....

Hi. I know this is an older post and hopefully you're feeling much different and things are going well with SmokeyBear! I went through the same thoughts and emotions as you did. Guilt, sadness, horror, you name it. My cat, Kitty was born in 1988 and when she was 10 she was operated for a cancerous t...

Re: Cat with sudden hind end weakness

I'm devastated at the turn of events. My Dillon can no longer able to poo and pee on her own. She's becoming distended and seems uncomfortable. We'll be taking her tomorrow morning to have her pass away, hopefully peacefully.  :thankyou:

Cat with sudden hind end weakness

Hi. Just wondering if anyone has had this situation. My 20 year old cat Dillon, is in great shape for her age and plays and jumps like a kitten. You would never guess that she is 20. Five days ago, she started having trouble with her back legs and could only walk on her hocks. I rushed her to the ve...

I'm feeling sad but lucky!!

Hi, My cat, Kitty, lost her front leg 7 years ago due to cancer. She's now 20 and my vet said she looks better than any 20 year old cat he's seen! Unfortunately her "good" front is getting weak and arthritic. She's on medication for the arthritis but her leg frequently collapses under her....

Amputation is a heart wrenching decision but in the long run, you'll thank yourself for doing your kitty a favor. My cat had her front leg amputated years ago due to cancer and we agonized over it before we did it. She's now 20, and although she's getting arthritic, she's never been happier. We're h...
