I beleive you posted information for us - which I appreciated - when I first got him almost 2 years ago. He also couln't walk, but could m...

Re: Paralyzed kitten needs good home
Thank you Diana, My heart is very broken right now - I do appreciate your kind words and support! I really don't think I could take 2 new kitties - though Lord knows I would If I could! I have 5 normal cats and a dog - but I did manage to take care of Whisker's, so I thought maybe I could handle one...

Re: Paralyzed kitten needs good home
Is there a picture of this kitty available? I live alone and work full time and had a completely crippled kitty - who I held over the catbox before I went to work and as soon as I got home. We did quite well - few accidents. He was not 'incontinent though - that might have been the difference - but ...

Whiskers, Quadriplegic kitty
I am terribly heartbroken to inform you all that Whiskers was put to sleep on November 11th. I had posted about some episodes he had of open-mouthed breathing but that he had eventually returned to his normal self. I took him to an internist who thought it may have started as a gag reflex and sugges...

Whiskers appt today
I just want to let everybody know that I took Whiskers to an Internist today. The Dr. openly admits that he is not familiar with the likes of a cat like him, that is - quadripalegic, pectus excavatum, (seizures?) - but seems to think that it was somewhat of an isolated incident. He suggested a few t...

Re: Brain stem breathing?
There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with that ? Anyway that makes it seem much less scary. Thanks. Hopefully I'll find out more, soon.

Re: Brain stem breathing?
The guy who answered the phone at the Internists' office, which I plan to go to, said it sounded like brain stem breathing and is probably more neurological so he wanted to speak to the people at the animal hospital Whiskers was recently treated at. I can appreciate that he wants to save me the time...

Brain stem breathing?
Hello again, Today I called an Internists office and briefly described Whiskers' problems. The person who answered the phone wants to talk to the Drs who have recently treated him, in order to determine that I am going to the right Dr. He said it sounds like "brain stem breathing". HAS ANY...

Re: things are lookig up.
That is really good to know! I have thought about it with my crippled cat, Whiskers.
And that is great about your sister's interest in rehabbing!
Good Luck!

Re: Whiskers' update
You HAVE been so much help already!! Since my last post I called the Dr who came up with the gameplan. Dr. Hyatt, the one I met Tues morn when I took Whiskers in for the echo. He had said he could do it, but there was another guy who was better, Dr Voell (who is evidently well acquanted with the car...

Re: Whiskers' update
Carol,
I just read your last post more carefully and I will check into whether an EKG was done while he was in the throes of respiratory distress that day. At either hospital! Thanks again,
Karen
