Re: Whiskers' update

Hi Carol, I have been trying to assimilate all the info I've gathered. I'm on the verge of making an appt. with the Cardiologist, but, and I got this idea from one of the Drs that saw him the other day - the one that I had made the appt for the echo with, but who told me when I got there that there ...

Re: Whiskers' update

Thank you Carol, for taking all the time to explain all of that to me. So it sounds like the Cardiologist IS the best, next Doctor to see? I was hoping that since that one Dr. didn't see any major problems that I could rule the heart out. And actually that visit was kind of a waste of time and money...

Whiskers' update

I had an appt for Whiskers to have an echocardiogram today. I made the appt. at the place where he was hospitalized overnite about a week ago when he was having difficulty breathing. It is both a regular Vetrinary Centre and the local emergency hospital -open 24 hours a day. I hadn't asked for any p...

Re: Whiskers, a Quadriplegic cat

I tried to post a reply to Jean's post last night, but after writing a nice long reply - I lost it or erased it, somehow? and I was too exhausted to do it again. Sorry. Actually, i think you can still view my initial posts for the full story. But briefly - if I can do that?! - a coworker of mine got...

Re: Whiskers, a Quadriplegic cat

Thank you. He's doing fine right now, but I need to figure out what was happening and why - in case it happens again I want to be prepared! Thanks to all of you I have some good ideas to check out. Whiskers is quite a trooper - considering all of his challenges! He's coming up on 2 years old. I have...

Re: Whiskers, a Quadriplegic cat

Thank you so much for the information about heart problems. I will check into that.

Right now I'm happy to be able to say that he seems to be his normal self - that is, - for a quadriplegic kitty who also sometimes has seizures... What a trooper!?

Re: Whiskers' respiratory problems?

Hi Diana, Thanks for the info, and I'm glad you remember Whiskers! I am sorry to hear of your recent loss. Last night I thought I was going to lose him and was trying to prepare myself... I brought Whiskers home Tues afternoon - I was tentative about that, but the Dr. seemed pretty confident that Wh...

Whiskers' respiratory problems?

My cat Whiskers is a quadriplegic And he has seizures. Yesterday, at about 1:15pm, I thought he was having a seizure, so after about 2 minutes I gave him a valium suppository, as I have been instructed to do. I thought he was jaw chomping, one of the signs of seizure, but now in retrospect, I think ...

Re: Whiskers, a Quadriplegic cat

Thank you, Carol! I don't know that it's flattened, I think they're saying that his sternum presses on something (his lungs?) I am right now looking up some Doctors notes from almost a year ago, in reference to chest x-rays, it says: "radographs performed... which revealed the following: pectus...

Whiskers, a Quadriplegic cat

I hope some of you remember Whiskers, a Quadriplegic kitty I first contacted you all about in about November of '07? He was doing fine, but today I thought he was having a seizure - but it's more like he's having trouble breathing... He's in the emergency hospital right now, and I just want to ask f...

Re: I just need an "ear" to talk to about our cat please!

Hi, I haven't been to the website in a LONG time, but I just read your message and wanted to put my 2 cents in. I have a young cat who is a quadripalegic and I hand feed him twice every day, give him water by syringe and hold him over a catbox a few times a day, each day. Sometimes he has accidents ...

Re: Whiskers, quadriplegic cat

Thanks. I am mostly concerned that something might be getting worse. Originally he was (just?!) paralyzed and required special care - but it wasn't like anything was changing or getting worse. So it seemed that regardless of what caused the paralysis - his care would be the same. I got him at about ...

Whiskers, quadriplegic cat

Hello everyone! It has been a long time since you've heard from me - only due to computer problems (that is - I didn't have one!) I actually went and bought one last night - mostly to talk to you people! Hopefully you will remember Whiskers? Well, he's hanging in there, but since you heard from us l...

Dear Rio,
Thanks for your information. There are so many similarities to what you described that I think I will ask the neurologist about it. I really appreciate you writing about that! It may take a couple of weeks, but I will write back as to what I find out.
Thank you!

Whiskers' photo

Sorry it's taken me so long to respond. I've been trying, but haven't been able to do it myself. So if you would, please apply the one - whiskers_sm.JPG - to my profile. I really appreciate it!!! :D They were all really good - thank you so much!
