Re: new and lost- questions on crate rest
I am so sorry to hear about your baby....and wanted to reassure you that there are many options that perhaps your vet is unaware of. I understand (as many of us here do) that you must be in shock and feel very overwhelmed. Please know that there is a lot of experience and knowledge on this board, an...

Re: it's very hard
Dear Puremutt, I am so terribly sorry for your loss and can very much relate to the depth of your sorrow as I too lost my little girl Rory unexpectedly a month ago. When you suffer such a deep loss it seems as if time should stop...how could a month have passed already??? Initially just the lack of ...

Re: When is it too late for crate rest?
Gosh Maddie's story is so moving it just breaks my heart that you are all going through this. I noted that she had her "rupture" in early July?? Is she still on any medications etc?? My gut response would be it might not hurt to try for a few weeks, as I can recall (through a rescue) a pup...

Re: An Update on Bob
Hi Bob's mom, Great suggestionfor home Depot. I am scared of saws and they are always very helpful in cutting for me with past projects. I also have hard wood floors in my house, and invested in some inexpensive runners from Mejers (about $150.00) to create a pathway from room to room. I had no luck...

Re: Physical therapy exercises to do at home
Hi Tbone, Some of the things I did with Samy that were helpful during recovery: Flexing the leg joints (ankle knee etc) to keep them supple Range of motion Bicycles (lying on one side first than switch to the other) Stretches (with massage stretch legs out and massage gently) Standing (well supporte...

Re: Missing vet
I am in Northwest Indiana. I did try Google, but only came up with the pets and Vets as a reference for her.
Thank you

Missing vet
Well, this week has really been awful on all counts with the sudden loss of my baby Rory, but in addition I have just been told that Samy's rehab vet has left the practice that she was with (Pets and Vets). Dr Loud essentially saved Samy's life! She was about the primary person he trusted at the reh...

Re: How to go on.....
Thank you all so much....your kind words and support have been so comforting. I have read and reread them frequently today to help me get through this first day back at work. I was blessed to finally get some rest last night, and took my boy Samy out for a car ride to give us both a change of scene....

Re: Help with Harnesses and Leashes
The rear support harness also works well too (sorry could not post the link) it is on handicappedpets.com also although I do have a smaller dog. Would you consider a cart to support Shadow's back end? I have been looking at those on Eddie's wheels but know there are other options including some home...

How to go on.....
I apologize for the nature of this post, but am feeling unbearably crippled in the events of the past few days. It is agonizing to think I will never see my sweet girl's little face again, or see her little skip/run, but I am just tormented in the thought that her last moments were alone, and that s...

Re: Goodbye Jack
I am so sorry to learn of Jack's passing. Please know I understand your grief having just lost Rory in the same manner yesterday. I hope you are able to get some peace in your heart, and find some comfort in Chelsea.

Rory is gone
Much of the ups and downs of the last year have been shared with you all, and I feel I need to share with you the passing of my other doxie Rory. I do not know what happened, but returned home today to find her gone curled up on her bed. She had been seen by the vet recently had a ton of labs. Her h...

Re: Need help with doggy anxiety!!
I am so sorry to hear Wickett is having a tough time. We went through this when Ifirst made the transition from my pups sleeping with me to sleeping in their own crates. The only thing that seemed to help was creating a ritual around "bed time" that was positive. This meant them both getti...

Wheelchair when dog is mobile??
This may sound like a strange question but I am really wondering if there is any advantage or disadvantage to having a mobile (not paralyzed)dog use a wheelchair for outdoor activities. Obviously my thinking is that it would provide Samy a bit more freedom as currently I use a front and rear support...
