Hey, Virgil - any progress on the tank track cart? We just got 2 more feet of snow then 2 days of rain and ice.... unbelievable!! As for the Hartman, the problem isn't short trips, it's long walks. So the Hartman just presents me with the same problem I have now. It's just historicly bad weather. an...

wild solution?
I'm actually considering one of those deep sea fishing pole/vest combos and hooking her up to the pole. If she slips, I'll just reel her up like a tuna!

maybe a fishing pole?
I thought maybe someone with more experience had already come up with a genius solution. Maybe a pole or something.
Maybe a fishing pole with a harness holder like deep sea fishing.
Actually, that might work... .

THE SNOW!!!!!!!!!
The problem with the snow is that this isn't a usual Yankee winter. Weve had lots of snow/rain/snow/rain (we're getting more snow/rain mix right now - foot of snow and a couple hours of rain) so the snow will hold your weight for a moment and then you fall through the crusts. Or there are huge sever...

Rear harness is killing my back -anything better out there?
My Sherman tank of a dog has DM and recently lost use of rear legs. She can still stand if her feet are properly placed - but will fall if she tries to move from that spot. SHe tries to use her back legs when walking but they just don't move right anymore. So I've been using a rear harness to help h...

Antibiotic advice for UTI and stones?
What do folks reccommend in terms of antibiotics for the UTI? I know there are a few prescriptions out there. And what about stones (I don't yet know what kind they are) in the urine? My dog has just gone "down" with DM so these are all new issues for us. We're still figuring out the whole...

much better
She's doing MUCH better today. Even ran around the yard (that rear harness is killing my back - there's gotta be something better) and did some woofing (her very favorite activity). It's a double whammy apparently - UTI and stones. Will get the test results back Tuesday. I actually started a natural...

When does a UTI become an emergency?
My geriatric dog, Reegan, has several age-related health issues including DM. Last week she lost ability to walk on her own and we've been trying to figure out this new lifestyle this week, including the routine for diapers and manual expelling of the bladder etc. I understand UTI is common in dogs ...

How's Toby? How are you guys coping? I'm not an expert but have you considered DM (Degenerative Myelopathy)? It's common in GSD but usually older GSD. It's neurological and is basically the breakdown of the sheath around the nerves in the spine. The brain just can't communicate with the legs effecti...
