Carol,
I guess that is why we are all here-to help each other out. Where would we be if we didn't have each other!! It is a BIG THANKS to EVERYBODY!!!

Re: Help Needed: Paralyzed Cat
I honestly haven't had trouble with the urine scald since we first got Trixie. The 3M spray worked to clear it up. Trixie is in her diaper 24 hours a day. I use alcohol free baby wipes to clean her, use AD diaper rash cream, and Pampers size one. Her legs stay bent at the hips so we don't have troub...

How far would they amputate?
If he has stubs then you have to watch out for sores on the tips of his stubs. Would there be a chance of nerve damage that could cause incontinence? I know that amputating tails can sometimes lead to incontinence. Make sure you have all of the facts before you make any decisions. Would there be ris...

Re: Liver failure?
I wish I could help--have never done fluids myself. Have you thought about a feeding tube? I have done a few feeding tubes--they aren't as bad as tthey look. You can get food, medicine, water, etc down them. That would help fend off hepatic lipidosis from not eating. The only draw back is that she woul...

Re: Questions on cat things
Cats can get crystals/stones from their urine either being too alkaline or too acidic. You need to ask the vet which kind of crystals they are. You can get the test strips from Walgreens. The holistic pet food company Solid Gold also had urine test strips. They also have suppliments to make the urin...

Re: Tartar- Carol
I am absolutely amazed that your cats do not need sedation for a teeth cleaning! Does your vet use an ultrasonic scaler?? The ultrasonic scaler vibrates and has a water spray. It is excellent for removing tartar and also flushes out the bacteria that forms below the gumline (I'm a Dental Hygienist)....

Re: Rescued a bobtail kitten with short spine, can't poop?
Sounds like she has some Manx in her. Manx cats are very prone to what they call "manx syndrome". It is caused from their shortened spine. Manx syndrome causes incontinence and can lead to megacolon. You have to be very careful that she does not become fecally "blocked". You do n...

Carol--litter box info
Carol--I noteced something that you designed a litter box. Could you tell me more?? My CH kitty Ruby has some issues. I have even bought an extra large rubbermaid container that I cut a huge, low hole in the side for her. She still doesn't use it regularly. She has a hard time "stepping" ov...

I was going to say-what about a cart but animals aren't supposed to be left in them unsupervised. As far as the diapers go--what about Bendy's suspender idea for the diapers?

Re: my cat's pulling out hair on her belly and biting
Has the kitty checked out healthy otherwise? Sometimes cats with inflammatory bowel disease lick the fur off of their stomachs because their tummy's are uncomfortable. No food allergies?
