Re: Is this a sign of hope, or just reflex?
Hi. As a puppy my dog's prognosis was not good. They took X-rays and told me they couldn't really figure out how he was able to walk at all. That was seven years ago. I posted awhile ago that he was walking with his back legs moving independently (he used to always hop) and was even standing up on h...

Re: Looking for Pet Insurance
Good luck with your search. I was not able to find insurance that actually covered anything, even basics, for my dog. If you do find something, search the fine print carefully.

Re: Blindness can come from any number of reasons
Hi Karen. I thought I would mention that while researching Baytril I discovered that it can cause blindness in cats and that there are a couple of suspicious instances where dogs went suddenly blind for no apparent reason other than having taken Baytril shortly before the blindness occured.

Re: Kitty Litter
Thank you Critters and CarolC for the answers. I had heard that clumping litter is not good but if both of you are using it I'll give it a try too.

Re: Urinary Crystals
Thanks Carol. I knew in my heart I should talk to her but I wasn't sure if anyone else would think so. It was just such a surprise and scare to find out he was full of crystal pieces with no infection present. I am actually feeling panic about this because it's not in keeping with his usual scenario...

Kitty Litter
Hello kitty lovers. When my Megan was spayed the vet suggested I use Yesterday’s News for kitty litter. I’ve been using it since but in the past year it’s jumped in price from $6.99 to $13.99 and it’s time for a change. What kitty litters do the cat owners here use and recommend and/or do not recomm...

Urinary Crystals
I’m hoping someone here can help me make a decision. Riley was on pulse therapy with Cephalexin but after quite some time developed loose bowels and a metallic smell while taking it. In July, his vet changed his medication to Baytril for the pulse therapy. Recently I noticed what appeared to be bloo...

Riley's picture is on the site
Hi everyone. If you want to see what my little boy looks like you can see a picture of him on the Articles link under Spina Bifida. In the picture he has taken the door mat (which he shouldn't have) and is negotiating with me to give him a treat to give it back.

Re: antibiotics--diarhea
My Lhasa had been on Cephalexin pulse therapy for quite awhile but the last time (and coincidentally a new prescription refill) he also had loose bowels and a horrible odor. After two days he began throwing up. I discontinued the Cephalexin and took him to see his doctor. She switched him to Baytril...

Re: Other: Saying Goodbye....
Hey there, I am sorry you feel that way. Sometimes people don't respond to a message because we don't have anything relevent to offer and we don't want to waste people's time. Other times we just don't have time to read all the messages. You have much to offer just by being here. I have been helped ...

Re: Websites: For Jean -- Truman and Murphy
This is the first web site I came across after I was told that Riley would never be able to control his bladder and bowel. It gave me such hope and belief that I could care for him. I e-mailed her and she kindly responded with much assistance during those first scary months. I believe she's truly an...

Re: Story: Shelter kills 5 puppies by "mistake", This is HOR
Several years ago I found a small dog wandering and took it to that shelter. The dog was wearing a tag and I made it very clear, in writing, that I would adopt the dog if it's owners were not found or decided not to claim him. Several neighbors and a co-worker went to the shelter to see the dog and ...
