Re: Our Sebastian left us tonight
Thank you both for your messages. It hit me-HARD-this morning, that he was literally and figuratively "hanging on" until I got home, because within 15 seconds after I freed him from the mini blinds he passed in my arms, almost like he was waiting for me to get home so he could pass in my a...

Our Sebastian left us tonight
We lost our beloved Sebastian, a 14.5 year-old Chantilly tonight. When I got home, he gave one last meow as I saw that his left leg was caught in the mini blinds, and he was stuck there; we think he got one last bolt of adrenaline and climbed up the back of a chair and perhaps was trying to climb up...

Had to take Sebastian back to the vet AGAIN!
Now he developed an upper respiratory infection, his eyes and nose are just pouring out liquid, he is so stuffed up, not eating or drinking, so I took him to the vet again last night and they gave us an antibiotic for him to give him once a day, plus some pain meds in case he is in pain. He is just ...

Re: Sebastian's very traumatic vet visit
With both constipation and the beginning of kidney problems, you might want to do fluids under his skin at home to help with both problems. Yes, I think one of the vets said we could easily do that at home. Can't remember which one, were at so many lately! He's in his hiding place again but that is...

Re: Sebastian's very traumatic vet visit
Thanks for the answer and the info, but after spending 5 hours at 2 vets yesterday we found the answer, he is severely CONSTIPATED! I took him to a local vet yesterday right down the street so that he and I wouldn't have to endure the long stressful ride to the usual vet which makes him nuts, and af...

Sebastian's very traumatic vet visit
Once again I pop in here to ask you all some advice, and if you have had similar experiences so here goes; a little over a week ago, we noticed that Sebastian, our 14.5 year-old black/brown Chantilly, was not himself, laying in a cat bed, nose and body felt warm, just very lethargic, so I took him t...

Stanley is our latest addition ha ha!!
Hello all! You may remember that we lost our Simon on May 15th as I posted on here; what a tough loss that was as he was such a wonderful cat, more like a dog-that was one of the worst weeks of our lives, actually, as I know you all can relate.....the week before he got sick I saw a picture of a whi...

Re: Simon has a mass on his stomach
Thank you all for your very kind words; we are dealing with it and have come to accept that it was the only thing to do as he was a very sick little boy. But he had a long full life, a lot longer than he would've living outside, but it still is so so hard to handle as we miss him so....but all of us...

Re: Simon has a mass on his stomach
Les and Deb...my thoughts and prayers are with you and your Simon. Thank you very much; we had a very nice farewell visit with him, and he still looked so handsome and good I kept saying "are you sure it's time, are we doing the right thing?" which I'm told is normal to try to "hold ...

Re: Simon has a mass on his stomach
Thank you for the replies, but I took him back to the vet this morning. We syringe-fed him last night and this morning, he didn't have much but it stayed down, but he isn't eating or drinking, and just moves around from place to place and can't seem to get comfortable. Like I said he threw up a lot ...

Re: Simon has a mass on his stomach
Thanks for the reply! I brought him home last night-his temperature went back to normal and his potassium level was "low normal" but was better, so I said "he's coming home!", and the first thing that he did was go to the food bowls and eat, not a lot but he ate and that was a go...

Simon has a mass on his stomach
Hello all, I haven't been on here in awhile but I hope that you are all doing well. I had to take Simon, our oldest cat, almost 13 to the vet this morning as he threw up quite a bit yesterday morning and was very lethargic and out of it last night and this morning. He had an episode of vomiting seve...

Re: Neighbor's dog died-I feel just terrible....
Thank you all very much for your replies, I really appreciate you all taking the time out to answer me. I talked to several people about this, and one said "my dog eats mushrooms all the time, throws up and is fine-I think there was something else going on there" and I do believe he's righ...

Neighbor's dog died-I feel just terrible....
Our neighbors, 3 young guys, had a beagle named Bandit and a chocolate Lab named Boone; over the last couple of months I would let them into our fenced-in yard so they could run around-their yard is not fenced-in. I told them they could also let them run around when they wanted to let them in even i...

Re: Skipper scratching in litter box but not going-any ideas
UPDATE! This morning Skipper was in the kitchen to eat breakfast, ate, seemed pretty good, but he was doing that "routine" again of going into several litter boxes, not going to the bathroom, scratching, leaving etc. so we trapped him in the room and got him into a carrier and took him to ...
