Re: HAPPY HOLIDAYS

Ooooh Carol you were brave, I didn't put up a tree this year. What with Dusty the cat, and the two dogs trying to sort things out and two more dogs (chocolate lab pup + old sheepdog) for Xmas day plus all the humans the livingroom is too small! All the other decorations are up and the presents will ...

HAPPY HOLIDAYS

Wishing everyone a joyous and wonder filled holiday and for that matter all year long. Meet Tallulah our foster girl; after only 4 days she has captured our hearts. Harley on the other hand isn't quite so enamoured with her (she stole his bed) but he'll come around. All the best. Jane, Harley and Ta...

Re: Harley&Jane Update - new job

Thank you all for your kind words of encouragement and support. All the people with HPdotcom are the best!!! Yesterday's shift was unusually quiet so it was a good opportunity to get to know the people who work there. The stories they told!! Most funny, none too gruesome - quess they didn't want to ...

Harley&Jane Update - new job

It's been awhile since I posted - alot of water has flowed under my bridge!!!!! I finally left my job at the addiction centre (after 13 years - the last 4 were bad) in May; took most of the summer off and found a new career! When I stopped into our vets in May to pick up Harley's meds for Addison's,...

Re: Help Harley's Tail is one open sore!!!

Thanks Christine - yeh I'm thinking that the root cause is allergies - dry, dry, winter weather so will wait to see how it progresses. Being OC does not help at all!

Oh Yah! Here's another Gary Larson - First panel shows - a pasture full of cows standing on their hind legs with martini glasses in hand (having a cocktail party) Second panel shows same cows but the thought bubble says "CAR!" Third panel shows a pasture full of cows standing on four legs ...

OMG I love the farside tooo!!! I wish I had a copy of my favorite so.... I'll just have to describe it to you. Picture this - car in laneway; inside, on backseat one dog... outside on lawn several dogs. Inside thought bubble is (something like this)- " "Hurray - I'm going to the vets to ge...

Re: Help Harley's Tail is one open sore!!!

Thanks Karen - the biggest strip is 6" long so you're going to need a heck of a lot of strips to cover your couch!!!! The bitter spray is doing well, we re-apply it as needed. The majority of his tail has healed, even has some fur growing back. There are a still a couple of areas that are raw a...

Re: Woohoo!!! Critters, how many posts is that???

Congrats Critters - I like Connie can attribute some of Harley's new found life to that fateful day I found HP.com and your wonderful advise and encouragement. And now, I'm in the post ten thousand mark, with his latest exploits; by the way his tail is beginning to heal (again). Thank you for your d...

Re: Help Harley's Tail is one open sore!!!

Thanks for the suggestions. I googled the gabapentin and am not sure I want to go that route yet; may be we will have to try drugging him but not yet. Harley is OCD his obsession is on licking - we call him our "Hoover Boy" The licking is his soothing mechanism - used for 4 years while cra...

Re: Help Harley's Tail is one open sore!!!

Karen, thank for looking that collar up. Unfortunately, if it will only protect the base of the tail then were out of luck. It's only the base that isn't affected. He has it bloodied from about two inches away from the base right down to the tip. We will head for Pet Smart tomorrow to see what we ca...

Help Harley's Tail is one open sore!!!

Oh dear, we are totally baffled on how to get his tail to heal. It started months ago; with 1 hot spot. Just when we get it all cleared up, well scabbed over and the scabs are almost gone, he goes at it again until it bleeds. We use polysporin or teatree oil, bandage it in gauze and then wrap it in ...

Re: arkansas winter storm arrived, yikes!!

Connie you be careful out there and take Christine's advise and stock up your car for a "just in case!" Add a couple of small candles and a can to burn it in; the heat from the candle will keep you warm if the car becomes stuck and stranded out on the road. You just tent the blanket around...
