Re: stair lift for dogs

Thanks but that looks like it would be more work than boosting his 80 lb. butt up the stairs from behind like I do every night now.
Don't think I would have enough strength to pick him up by a strap and haul him up them since I have a wee bit of arthritis myself.

Re: stair lift for dogs

Hi All: I never thought that I would be carrying the back half of my dog upstairs every night w/my husband carrying the front half. I also never thought that I would spend nights on an airbed, downstairs in the family room Eureka Hi there, I too have spent many months sleeping on the futon in the d...

Re: stair lift for dogs

Hi all, Lots of good suggestions here. We really wanted a one floor house when we have to leave here but the builders are telling us that a two floor is cheaper. I have to admit that I do feel safer sleeping on the second floor after Hubby leaves in the mornings. Of course I cannot imagine anyone bo...

Re: stair lift for dogs

I don't know how clever your husband is, but I keep thinking the way to do this is with a garage door opener, a ramp, and a box. Garage door openers ain't all that much, and you'd probably just need the base model to slide a chow up the stairs. Just build your cheapo ramp next to the wall and nail/...

Re: stair lift for dogs

There are platform stair lifts. http://www.savariaconcord.com/es125.htm Such as this one. Thanks, If we were rich and lived in a huge mansion I guess that would be great - but the platform would take up the whole hallway at the bottom and the top of the stairs too. And we are far from rich - we hav...

Re: stair lift for dogs

Hi Christine, Think I am just paranoid about killing threads since I am on another forum (PC related) I kill a lot of threads there or so it seems:) Bear weighs 80 lbs. He won't go to bed when my husband does (early because of his work) since I am the "Mama Bear who needs his protection", ...

Re: stair lift for dogs

If you ever get the instructions for this I would really like to have them. I have a 9 year-old Chow Chow, Bear Doggy. He has always been disabled to some extent since he had hip dysplasia plus one bad front elbow. He has had FHO surgery on his hips - it took away most of his pain but left him very ...
