Not Sure About Our Vet...
Sarah took Dougie to the vet last week and she wants him to go off steroids. She says they don't have much bennifit after 2 weeks. I'm not sure about doing that. The kids are still giving him his steroid and stomache med twice a day and he has another follow up on this Wed. He is walking a little in...

Re: Inca is home!
Claire,
It is so great when they turn a corner after all the worrying for them and all you see them going through. I'll bet she is so glad to be home. It's fun to hear good news like this.

Re: Good News on Dougie
Does this mean he will get better or do things like that come and go? We are doing ROM with him at least 3 times per day. The last few times I did it he seemed to have some "connection" with his back legs. (I don't know if I'm getting what I mean across right. He honestly seemed aware of w...

Good News on Dougie
Dougie stood up in his box last night. He did it by himself, all on his own! The kids were giving him pizza crust (his favorite). He dropped it and stood up to get it and then just stood there and ate it. Sarah was yelling for everyone in the house to come see. We let him finish and then made him la...

Feeding and possible pain issue
Dougie seems to have gotten REALLY picky lately. He always loved his food before (Canidae) but now he turns his head away from it. We have been giving him yogart and pieces of turkey and cheese. He really likes this but can he survive on that? Should we be more stern and wait till he's hungry enough...

I know that I really should be the one writing everything down in this forum concerning Dougie, but this is my first forum so I wasn't really sure how they work. I've bee watching my mom so I think that I might have the hang of it. It's...

Re: Dougie's follow up...
Julie, Dougie was started on steroids on Mon.pm as soon as they admitted him to the vet. They kept him for 3 days on IV steroids, fluids, and pain meds. When the kids ( they and their baby live with us- they're still in college) picked him up, he was put on oral steriods, a stomache protector and pa...

Re: Dougie's follow up...
We are keeping him in a rubermaid tub with high sides. He figgeted way too much in his little crate and it's easier to get him in out, give meds, check bedding, ect. We won't be considering a cart for at least 1 1/2 to 2 months. I had already been reading up this on this site before he had his follo...

Dougie's follow up...
We went back to the vet today and Dougie does have pain perception. She pinched his back toe and he looked over his shoulder at her and growled. She stood him up on the table and his one foot knuckled under. He really cant stand on his own at all, but seems to get his legs into a locked position. Sh...

Re: NEW MEMBER/ ANYONE KNOW ABOUT "SPINAL SHOCK"
Thanks for your encouragement and advice so far. Dougie goes back for a recheck today. He is currently in a rubbermaid tub with a blanket. Sarah tried him inhis little travel crate, but he seemed to have trouble getting comfortable in there so he moved ALOT more. Also, it was harder for them to get h...

NEW MEMBER/ ANYONE KNOW ABOUT "SPINAL SHOCK"
If anyone knows anything or has any encouraging news, please let us know: Our pet is Dougie. He is a 1 1/2 old Pom. He weighs about 3 lbs. He is our daughter and son in law's baby. On Tues. pm they were playing on the floor with him and their kid-baby when my son in law tripped over him. Initially t...
