Many years later

Hi everyone. I was just looking at my girl today. She had an FCE when she was six. She is now fourteen! She is still here, limpy, silly, and enjoying life. I just wanted to give hope to those of you going through this. This site helped me so much when I was so scared. She had no movement from her ne...

Re: Louise FCE

The pups and I will go down to Hampstead near Wilmington next Tuesday. We live there part time, and have a vet there that we like. So I will start there with her. She seems better with no walks the last few days, and being on flat ground down there will help. It's just the trip is getting hard for h...

Re: Louise FCE

critters, she will turn ten this fall. As I read the threads, it looks like FCE does age them. She does seem better today. I have not walked her in two days. Just pees and poops in the yard.. She still has a ball in her mouth though!

Re: Louise FCE

Thanks Joanne, I am going back to NC next week. I would rather take her to her vet there then to the one here in Va. The doc there was with her when it happened, and is much better than the one here. She is still happy, and a nut. i just want her to be as comfortable as she can be. She seems better ...

Re: Louise FCE

Thanks so much for your thoughts. The front leg was a little problem on and off before the FCE. Since her stroke was in the neck, I have been wondering if that is where the problem started, and fiber went into her spinal cord. It would make sense that if that is pressing on the cord somehow it would...

Louise FCE

Hi, everone. I have not been on for a while but have a new concern about my old girl. Louise had an FCE three years ago. She came back from it very well. She has had a limp in her back leg, and some ataxia, but has gone about her life very happily. Lately she has some nerve problems. If I touch her ...

Re: New here, needing advice

This does not fit with what happened to my dog. I can't help too much, but I believe FCE happens very quickly. My girl went down in a few short hours. From fine, to not moving. Then they come back little by little hopefully showing some improvement in a few weeks. She had an MRI that showed what the...

Re: FCE Pet Runs in Sleep??? What does this mean...

Hi, my girl had her fce over a year ago. She does this all the time. She seems to do a full out run every night! Who knows what it is, but I have seen many people on this site talking about this. My girl was not able to move more than her head at the time. She is now living life, happy and silly. Sh...

i know how you feel about letting them get in bed. We took down our king bed to the floor just so she could sleep with us! I really don't know if I was that good to our own kids! i think he will be fine, sounds like whatever it is, he is getting well very quickly! I am happy for you!

Re: FCE in my 5yr old chocolate lab and I am very scared!

I understand where you are with the money. We happen to be an older couple with the means to take care of our Lou. But also in that year our son got very sick with no health insurance. We had to take care of him and Lou at the same time. I think you can do much of it on your own. When your dog gets ...

Re: FCE in my 5yr old chocolate lab and I am very scared!

Hi, I felt the same way when my Shep/mix did the same thing. She lost the use of all four legs though. This site helped me so much. I believe your dog will do fine. Mine was much worse and is walking, trotting, chewing her ball and enjoying life. She went to a rehab where they did therapy every day....

Re: Spinal stroke yesterday-front legs-heartbreaking!

Hang in there is right, my dog had her stroke almost one year ago. She had all four legs involved, but the front and back on the left side were worse. You should see some real improvement in a week or two. You need to massage her legs and move them as if she was walking. Try to get her muscles worki...

Re: FCE & aging

Hi, I just thought I would tell you how our aging dog is doing. It seems very much the same. She had her fce in April of 2010. She had all four legs involved. She did really well, and walks, trotts, pees and poops. We keep her on one floor as she struggles with steps. Like your dog she had good and ...

Re: FCE

Oh Rookies mom, I know just how you feel. Louise is at the three week mark. I am still scared and worried and crazy. But so much happened in that three weeks. At the place you are now, Louise could not move at all. Just her head. At three weeks she is pooping and peeing on her own... Ok sometimes sh...
