Re: Your experience with Bethanechol Chloride Please

Thanks Carol, I actually have one of those reusable diaper things from when I was breeding and the girls were in heat. I use to put a mini pad in and it worked great. I tried it on Lily but the waist goes right where she has her lump from the cancer and I didn't want anything that would irritate tha...

Diapers for a female pug

Can anyone tell me what size of diapers I would need to buy for a female pug dog? She is approximately 15 lbs. Also, if you buy baby diapers how do you make the hole for the tail or do you even have to bother with that?? Any suggestions on how to keep the diaper on the dog would also be appreciated....

Update on Lily and needing more advice please

Lily, my pug, has been on the Bethanocol Chloride for quite some time now and also the Phenoxbenzamine. Originally Lily could barely pee at all, she was on .5mg three times a day of the BC it wasn't doing that great a job so we added the PBZ at 2.5 mg twice a day. I have reduced the BC to .5 mg twic...

Re: Your experience with Bethanechol Chloride Please

Thanks for sharing your experience. Originally Lily was on 5 mg twice per day but it wasn't doing the job so now she takes 5 mg three times daily and it seems to be working. Keeping my fingers crossed. The only side affect she seems to have is she drools for a bit after about an hour of receiving he...

Re: Your experience with Bethanechol Chloride Please

Hi Carol, thanks for your post. I will definitely ask the vet about the PBZ. Rest assured that the first thing I did was have a urinalysis done and we did find that Lily has a raging urinary tract infection but she does not have any stones at this point. You are correct in your assumption that dogs ...

Re: Your experience with Bethanechol Chloride Please

I have two dogs that I have to express and a third one passed away in January so I'm very experienced with expressing the bladder. I have to express both the urine and the colon. Yes, I agree that sometimes you have to really press hard to express the bladder. Unfortunately with Lily, expressing the...

Your experience with Bethanechol Chloride Please

My pug Lily is pretty much paralyzed in her back end. She is having yet another urinary tract infection and is on antibiotics for a month in order to clear that up. Rather than her dripping urine her back end has actually been shutting down. The vet has put her on Bethanechol Chloride 2 - 3 times pe...

Re: Wheelchairs for pugs?

I live in Ontario and I'm quite happy with my vet and his abilities. In fact, I have several vets in the same office so I get from 3 - 5 opinions on health issues that my pugs deal with. We ruled out DM and my vet simply explains that the problem is a degeneration of the spine, thus the name Spinal ...

Re: Wheelchairs for pugs?

CarolC! Hi! I did have 10 pugs up until January 27th. My eldest boy left for the bridge that day so now we are down to only 9. :( He also had spinal degeneration. Hi Joan, okay to try to answer your questions. I ended up with this number of pugs because when I lived in the city I use to show and bre...

Wheelchairs for pugs?

Hi everyone, I'm new here. I have nine pugs. Two of my pugs have spinal degeneration which means they are losing use of their back ends. I pretty much carry them everywhere and have to hold them up to eat, drink, and go to the washroom. I have thought of buying them wheels but I'm not sure how usefu...
