Re: Travel with handicapped pet?
Usually your cat can travel with you in the passenger cabin if you follow certain rules. Cats in the passenger cabin must remain in a safe kennel (carrier) that's placed under the seat in front of you. If you want your cat to fly in the passenger cabin with you, make your reservations as early as po...

Newly blind cat--need advice
Here are some tips for handling a pet with limited or no sight: 1. Approach with respect. Do not startle the pet by sneaking up and touching her. It helps to speak first, and perhaps touch her whiskers to let her know how close you are, before petting or picking her up. 2. When new in your home, let...

Wheelchairs for pugs?
Like many other disabled and rehabilitating dogs, who suffer from spine-, hip- or hind-leg problems, I found a custom- made wheelchair, that has put me back on my feet again. If you also have a dog-friend who can use some backing, then you really must check out this site, so he/she will also soon be...

Re: cat sciatic nerve damage knuckling

cat sciatic nerve damage knuckling
I think you are right to be concerned about nerve damage, as the sciatic nerve runs down in this area and can be damaged by a needle. A massage can help with muscle spasms, but time is the only thing that can help with nerve damage. The body does have an amazing ability to heal itself, however, and ...

The Danger of Paralysis Ticks
The Paralysis Tick and the Brown Dog Tick are the two most common ticks on dogs. However, it is the Paralysis Tick that is by far the most dangerous. It causes paralysis in a variety of forms but a ‘typical’ case starts with weakness of the hindquarters that progresses to total paralysis of all four...

Kidney disease symptoms for dogs
It is probably one of the leading causes of death in older dogs. There are two forms in which the disease can manifest itself, acute or chronic. The acute form can happen so quickly and suddenly, while the chronic form begins slowly and progresses over time. Sadly for the owner, news of either form ...

How to Care for Paralyzed dogs?
Unfortunately, spinal damage leading to rear leg paralysis is not an uncommon problem in pets. The animal will be normal from the point of the spinal injury upward and paralyzed downward from the point of the injury. These animals are colloquially called "downer" animals and have special m...
