Re: update on Beau

Hello Pat I just read all your posts about your sweet little Beau. I have been in tears at what you went through. He was a beautiful dog and God knows you did all that was humanly possible for him. I have heard so many horror stories from this forum about doctors that just seem to care more about th...

Re: We had our phonecall -his leg's gone

Adelaide I am a little concerned about the quivering. I would think he is in pain and may need medication earlier. Why don't you call your vet and let him at least know what happened. He went through a really traumatic operation and every dog is different. My dog Luke never seemed in any real discom...

Re: We had our phonecall -his leg's gone

Hello Adelaide and Oscar Well He is about the cutest guy I have seen in a while. My dog Luke had his left front leg amputated seven weeks tomorrow. He is doing real good. Everything everybody is telling you is standard stuff. The crying, brusing, sleeping a lot, being clumbsy and even falling it all...

Re: New member, owner of Luke, left front leg amputee

Hello Andieopie Today is 6 weeks from surgery, it seems like 6months. Your girl will get better each day. Luke slept for a week after surgery and seemed depressed. By week two he was already getting better. I belong to a local dog club and when all this happened to Luke I put out a message to all me...

Re: New Amputee. Human needs help coping

Hi to Mckenna's mom My dog had his left front leg amputated 31 days ago and is doing very well. The first week to week and a half are really tough. I was second guessing myself like crazy. It all happened so fast, biopsy one week and amputation the next. My dog Luke had a tumor on the joint capsual....

Re: owner of Luke: New member slightly further along

Hi to All I have not been able to get back because of being busy. Hi to new member Mary Jo. I have good news, Luke is doing great. It seemed to really start to come together around mid week, Dec 12th or so. He is running down the hill to go potty in the woods where the leaves are. I took him for a s...

Re: New member, owner of Luke, left front leg amputee

Tessa and AMY I have a question for both of you. Luke seems very tired all the time. I don't know if it is depression or that he is truely tired. I would like to think that his body is in healing phase and sleeping and resting are part of that. He seemed to always be awake before. Did either of your...

Re: New member, owner of Luke, left front leg amputee

Hi Amy and Tyler You asked about specs on Luke. He is a Black Tri Aussie and he weighs about 50lbs. His brother lives up the street from me and is much larger about 65 lbs. His borthers owner is my very good friend and has been coming down during the day when I am at work and visiting with him and l...

Re: New member, owner of Luke, left front leg amputee

Thanks for the welcome. One question I have is that Luke seems to get real tired fast. Today he came down the driveway which really amazed me. After that he seems really tired and not wanting to do much of anything else. I am worried about his other front leg, he will just stop walking and it seems ...

New member, owner of Luke, left front leg amputee

Hello My dog Luke had his left front leg amputated last week. I need some advice on what to expect. He is five years old and other wise healthy. He had a low level sarcoma and the only way to get rid of it was amputation. I am still in shock as it happened so fast. I would appreciate any advice at t...
