Re: After 6 weeks of catheter Riley peed own his own!
Hi everyone, I just wanted to sincerely say that having this forum has been such an amazing help to us as we went through this journey with Riley. Unfortunately, his sudden urination was a bad thing, blood tests showed he was suffering from kidney disease and he had a very bad infection. His urnine ...

After 6 weeks of catheter Riley peed own his own!
We can hardly believe it. Who knew two people could be so happy that their dog peed all over the bed and floors? After almost six weeks of having to use a catheter and Riley's bladder decided it was finally going to work today! Actually it worked too well, he was peeing/dribbling every time we moved...

Re: My GSD "T" suffered an FCE accident 4/21
Hi Shelley, It sounds like T is doing really well given the circumstances! I would trade places with you in a second given how much progress you have seen so quickly. It is really hard when you feel like the "professionals" are taking advantage or not listening to you. We have experienced ...

Re: Riley got his new wheels today!
Hi Andysmom, I totally agree with you. I think some vets think that it is just too much for us to handle which leaves us questioning whether we know what we are getting into. I think they mean well, and maybe for the majority of people it would be beyond what they can handle. Some of us can handle i...

What an awesome blog you created about Maggie! I am looking forward to continuing to read about her progress. That is awesome that she seems to be getting some feeling back so quickly. She is so adorable -- especially the nap picture

Re: Riley got his new wheels today!
Tucker is so cute! I love those little pug faces. We have learned that my husband is much more at ease with the catheter than I am (I can do it in a pinch). Now that we have the wheelchair Michael does the catheter while Riley is standing and the pee comes out very quickly (more like a normal stream...

Re: Leg Shaking?
Thanks Bobbie, I appreciate the honesty. I think it is easy to get overly optimistic over every little change and we are trying very hard to keep a level head about everything. I can tell my husband is getting depressed over this now, so I am just trying to keep the vibe positive for all of us--- bu...

Leg Shaking?
Can anyone tell me their experience with an FCE dog and a leg shaking when raised or pulled forward? Riley had his FCE just over three weeks ago, and he has one back leg that shakes pretty visably more times than not. I guess we are trying to determine if this is something to get excited about or no...

Riley got his new wheels today!
Hi everyone My last post was entitled "discouraging call from vet" and today's title is a lot more optimistic! Turns out that Walkin Wheels headquarters is located in the town next to mine, so I called to rent a wheelchair today and got to pick it up this afternoon. I even got to meet the ...

Re: Just found out my dog has IVDD
Doshburg, Our dogs have two different conditions, but in the end, we are each faced with the unknown and are left questioning what happens next. I echo what you said about your dog being like a child to you. That is what Riley is to us. I don't have any words of wisdom, I just wanted you to know tha...

Discouraging call from Vet tonight
Our vet called us tonight to let us know that after confering with a neurologist that the collected opinion was that Riley was most likely not going to recover and they are telling us that his bad heartworm infection is a concern in his case. They said he should have been showing more improvement by...

Re: Riley's FCE - looking for your experience/advice on reco
Thank you everyone for the great advice and encouragment, and mostly for taking the time to respond, which really is helping more than I can tell you. Ever since his first day we fashioned a harness that works great and is easy to get him in/out of. It is actually a dog sweater for cold weather and ...

Hi Critters,
Riley is on phenoxybenzamine and another medicine that I can't remember that works with that. I really liked the hydrotherapy thought myself.....it seems that could be a great way to get his rear legs "moving" to me.
