Other: Simon

Regretfully, I am writing this note to inform you that Simon died this morning at 6:30 a.m. unexpectedly from liver failure. He seemed to be doing so well. He was down to 7.5 lbs a month ago but was up to 10 lbs on Thursday. He had begun acupuncture last month and was scheduled for a second round ne...

Hello Carol C,

Thanks so much! I found someone just a few hours a way. I'll call her on Monday and see what she has to say. Hope this will be a positive consult. I really appreciate the info.

Re: Muscular: Simon's getting very stiff

Hello, Lori, Carol C, Tiffany and Karen, Simon has stiff knees. I am able to move them a little in water and we do hydrotherapy daily. I live in a community without many resources for handicapped pets and no acupuncturist that I can identify. Is there a national directory or some way to find out whe...

Mini-dachs

Hi, My tweenie dachs Simon is in his cart from Eddies and can sleep in it. He is quite long and about an inch taller than the average mini. Weight loss and crate rest are the key, I think. I was advised to cut Simon's food intake in half when he went down, since he was not excercising like a normal ...

Re: Muscular: Simon's getting very stiff

Hi Tiffany and Karen, Thanks for the response. Simon gets full range of motion and stretching in hydrotherapy daily and LOTS of bicycling too. He gets massage several times a day and stretching. But, his knees are very stiff. I cannot full compress them. His hips and feet and loose. He puts up with ...

Muscular: Simon's getting very stiff

Hello, All! Simon and I have been out of touch for some weeks. Due to serius illness in the family, my spouse and I traveled across the country for a few weeks. Simon was left in the care of a vet tech who did a marvelous job with him. He does have some drag wounds that are not healing and also his ...

Story: Simon's Great Adventure

On Wednesday, Simon went to visit a classroom of disabled children in an intermediate school. He just wheeled his way around the school and the classroom. It was amazing! The kids couldn't get enough of him. Only 8 kids in the class and two in wheelchairs. Others with various disabilities. We stayed...

Re: P.S. Tracy

Hi!

My guy is little and I just lift his rear legs into the cart while he balances on the front.

I don't know how i'd work on a large dog but think that advice given by others here would eb a start.

Re: How did the pajama party go???

Hello, hello! The pajama party went GREAT! Simon slept in the bed of the caregiver, along with a cat born without eyes, and Sphinx and a third cat with minor neurological deficits. All went just fine. Simon had never been in the company of a cat before... The Sphinx was able to touch noses with him ...

Story: Simon continued

Well. Simon is having a sleep-over Friday. First time out of my care since his surgery and return home in August. I'm nervous. I thought the person who offered to care for him if I have to leave town in an emergency might like to try just one night to see if she really can care for him. She's a vet ...

Re: MARNI

Thanks so much! The article is really interestng. I'm gonna try some of the exercises they mentioned for Rosebud. Maybe even some of the Max stuff. I am sure Simon has no deep pain so the situation maybe quite different but I can keep trying. When he moves his leg, it is stiff, not limp. Thanks agai...
