Paralyzed dog with constant diarrhea
Hello, A few months back we adopted a paralyzed pup from Asia (we’re from Minnesota). We believe she was hbc. She was about 7 months old when we got her and has had diarrhea since. We have done every test we can think of (blood work, biopsy, fecals, EPI). She had giardia which we treated and is now ...

What type of food do you feed!
I'm wondering if anyone has had better luck with any certain brand of food? When I got my foster dog she was on science diet id dry food. I'm not really fond of science diet so I switched her to purina one, which my other three dogs were eating. I know this isn't the BEST food but its a decent food ...

Re: Do you allow dragging?
Oh my god! Zoe walked tonight! We were at my parents for dinner, they have carpeted floor, she walked about about 3 feet- three different times!! I could not believe it!! Here I thought our slippery hardwood and linoleum was a good thing, so she could slide around. I'm wondering if it's holding her ...

Re: Dog with spinal injury
Zoe is doing good. I have lots of pictures, I just don't know how to put them on here. :) I've been having trouble with her getting her diaper off so I've been thinking of getting her one of those "pee keepers". I've also sent an email to my vet with a few other thoughts I've had. I would ...

Re: Do you allow dragging?
She weighs 7 pounds. I know the cart won't be really big. I just thought she would probably get around alot better sliding around like she does. And I hope this doesn't sound to mean but we just put in wood floors two years ago and I really don't want wheels scratching them up. I know that probably ...

Re: Do you allow dragging?
Joann,
I'm assuming yours are incontinent. Do you use anything to keep their diapers on? You do use diapers right? I seen the peekeepers which look really nice but they are kinda pricey.

Do you allow dragging?
I'm fostering a dog who is paralyzed on her rear legs from an abusive owner. I posted before a little about her story. Anyhow we were hoping for recovery but now we're not so sure. I'm looking towards the future and wondering about her quality of life. If she does not recover we will get her a cart....

Re: Dog with spinal injury
I have been using mostly diapers. I have the cloth washable ones too but they don't seem to fit as well. I was using doggy diapers but they are SO expensive so now I'm using parents choice size 1. I've been cutting a hole for her tail. Took me awhile to get the placement down. I've also learned the ...

Re: Dog with spinal injury
Joann, Are all your dogs special needs? And they are big dogs?! That's simply amazing! You must have a very big heart! :) I would love to be able to bring Zoe to a neurologist but I just can't afford it right now. I haven't been working for a year and we are in the process of building a kennel (whic...

Re: Dog with spinal injury
Carol, I heard back from my vet. She said the fracture was between t10 and t12. With t11 being the main fracture with displacement. I'm actually gonna bring Zoe in for a recheck this week. I think we are gonna talk a little about getting a cart. Any suggestions? And you are so right how one little d...

Re: Dog with spinal injury
Is that your dog in the video? I'm confused, is she still paralyzed? The video says she has been for six years. Can she urinate on her own at all? Zoe urinates quite often. She goes alot at at time it seems, but it's probably not enough cause like you said the urine sits in the bladder creating bact...

Re: Dog with spinal injury
So your dog had surgery to fix it? Ive never had any experience with this stuff before. Did they repair the fractured bone? Was your dog also a rescue dog? Zoe also has two bigger dogs to live with. She actually likes them better. She wants so bad to run and play with them. Hopefully someday. Have y...

Re: Dog with spinal injury
That's so funny! This little girl is fawn colored with white markings. I've named her Zoe. It means "life". Fitting huh?! One of my own dogs is also a chihuahua, she's black. Are you a vet? You seem very knowledgeable. I too am I glad I took her! The shelter I worked for wouldn't take her....

Re: Dog with spinal injury
Sorry, I should have mentioned her breed. I'm sure that makes a big difference in things. We think she's a chihuahua pom mix. I wondered about the carrier too but my vet said she though it would be ok. Her bones have already fuzed. I try to support her but and keep her in a sitting position. What ki...
