wish we had done more
reposting from another forum He was a very fortunate kitty to have such a loving home where someone would do so much to help him with his needs all these years. He got his full life in spite of his disability, because of you. I can only imagine how empty the house must feel now. Thank you for your k...

Re: Cat splints, laser treatments and an update
We are sad to report that Trooper has crossed the Rainbow Bridge. He developed urine scalds and other complications from his incontinence to the point that his bladder was backed up. The acupuncture and laser treatments did help him for a few days but then he was right back to dragging his legs and ...

Re: Cat splints, laser treatments and an update
You have a very good point Critters. In our eyes a cart would help him tremendously. But he might freak out to be strapped into something he can't get away from. Since cats spend most of their time laying down or sitting, I have been wondering how that would work. Can I hear from someone with experi...

Re: Cat splints, laser treatments and an update
Trooper is living up to his name. He pulls himself around with his front paws, goes up and down the stairs and has a veracious appetite. A lot of the time he maneuvers sidesaddle with both back legs to the outside of his front paws. I tend to stand him up on all 4 paws when he eats or is having a lo...

Re: Cat splints, laser treatments and an update
Contractures are when, for instance, they've walked knuckled for so long that the tendons shorten so that the toes can't be straightened out again. Wow! That sounds like Trooper is headed for trouble. His foot is so limp, it turns under if I straighten it out while he is standing, but the rest of h...

Re: Cat splints, laser treatments and an update
Thanks CarolC.
Fripple is a sweetheart. He looks a lot like our Butterscotch, who has had surgery on both of his hips for femur head removal. (The amazing hipless kitty.) But Fripple has the white whisker pads and chin our Trooper has. awww!
So, anyone out there have a cat who knuckles?

Cat splints, laser treatments and an update
Hello again. I can't believe we haven't posted since Dec. 2012. Troopee continues to drag one of his back legs. He is "knuckling" (the toes are turned under and his weight is on what should be the top of his paw) most of the time. Although, I do see him put the foot down normally sometimes...

Re: degenerating nerve damage
[quote="CarolC"]I'm sorry I can't really answer the question about his leg getting stiffer. I just wanted to mention I had a kitten that chewed cords and needed a heating pad and I found a roll of cord protector that did the trick. It wasn't too expensive. The only thing I didn't like abou...

degenerating nerve damage
Hello my cat's name is Trooper. Bendy'sMom suggested years ago that I come here for ideas on his care and needs. (It is nice to see Bendy's picture here. :) ) Before Trooper was 4 weeks old a mentally disabled girl stepped on him, twice! He was taken to the vet where they determined he had nerve dam...
