Double rear leg amutation

Hi all, my little kitten Oreo that I have posted about before might have to have both of her rear legs amputated. She was born with her back joints fused together and also some of the spine fused. She is incontinent. She doesn't have any sores on her legs and she doesn't drag them...she kind of tuck...

Re: Incontinent kitten vs diaper

Thank you for the diaper design! I made Oreo one last night but she is such a squirmy thing she wiggled right out of it. Thankfully her poos aren't messy it is just the urine that I need to control. Thank you all so much for your advice and ideas :)

Re: Incontinent kitten vs diaper

Hope this has been helpful. Feel free to ask as many questions as you need/want! and WELCOME to the group![/quote] Thank you so much for your advice! I do express my kitten's bowels but the bladder has been a little more tricky for me but I'm slowly getting the hang of it...I'm not sure if what she ...

Incontinent kitten vs diaper

Hi all, my kitten Oreo has a birth defect and her rear leg joints are fused together as well as some vertebrae in her spine. As a result she is incontinent. I tried using diapers on her...and I changed them often to keep her from staying in a wet diaper but no matter how often I changed it her littl...

Re: Possible Manx Syndrome

I just wanted to update everyone on Oreo's progress :) She got her radiographs and appears to be missing some vertebrae in her spine near the base of her tail. A few vertebrae in the tail are fused and the joints in her back legs appear to be backwards. She is quite the mystery kitty the vet said he...

Re: Possible Manx Syndrome

I'm just having such a hard time with her pooping....I can feel it backed up even though she did poop once already today...the vet told me I need to stick a thermometer in there and pull it out...but she screams when I try and it doesn't work very well. I do massage her rear and her belly and it wi...

Re: Possible Manx Syndrome

Hmm. My little one usually poops every day, but no guarantees. In fact, he's overdue right now. I'm just having such a hard time with her pooping....I can feel it backed up even though she did poop once already today...the vet told me I need to stick a thermometer in there and pull it out......

Re: Possible Manx Syndrome

Just an update:

Yesterday Oreo did poop but today she hasn't had a bowel movement. How often should a kitten be defecating?
She is very curious and scoots all around the house and is already getting into lots of trouble

Re: Possible Manx Syndrome

Hopefully you have a vet who will work with you and Oreo---there is no reason to put her down. I don't know anything about Manx Syndrome but I have 3 cats with paralyzed back legs (one leans to the right, one to the left and one has legs who stick straight up) and have either bowel or bladder incon...

Re: Possible Manx Syndrome

:heartswelcome: The kitty experts will be along soon. Can you guess how old the kitten is? She looks to be about six weeks old. She is able to eat kitten chow just fine. To my relief she did poop today but it seems like she has no control over that either. I am trying to make a diaper for her but i...

Possible Manx Syndrome

I have just taken in a sweet black and white kitten I named Oreo. She was born with a stub of a tail and her back legs are deformed. It seems like her legs don't have joints in them at the right places. She seems to be incontinent and has urinated but hasn't pooped. I was doing research on manx synd...

New Experience with sweet kitten

Hi everyone I'm new here and I am taking in a little stray kitten that was born without the ability to use her back legs. I haven't gotten to see her yet but I'm picking her up tomorrow morning and I want to give her the very best life possible. :) Since I am totally new to this I was wondering what...
