Re: Heidi and her broken back
Sorry for taking so long to post, there just doesn't seem to be a point. We went Tuesday, and she has a major UTI. He gave us amoxicilin for that, and she threw up both times I gave it to her, so he switched it out for something else. Unfortunately, she has to take the pill with food, and she would ...

Re: Heidi and her broken back
Dr. Christman's booked up tomorrow, so Heidi has an appointment next Tuesday afternoon at 3. I put the list of questions to ask him in my purse. I'm definitely feeling better .

Re: Heidi and her broken back
I have to call later, but hopefully we can get her in Tuesday afternoon for an appointment. You've given me several things to ask Dr. Christman about.
Thanks again,
Theresa

Re: Heidi and her broken back
Thanks :) It's been bugging me, so I should mention that she is not scratching at her back and her neck in the conventional sense. She usually spreads her back legs and sits between them, and then twists her butt to reach. Sometimes she sets her front legs and slides her back legs all to the side, a...

Re: Heidi and her broken back
Sometimes I feel overwhelmed. I'm the one responsible for all the nitty-gritty stuff - she and Grandpa (my Dad) will take naps together, for example. She worships the ground he walks on, and it's good for both of them. Mom will feed her when I'm not home, or check that/how much she eats and comb for...

Re: Heidi and her broken back
Hi Theresa, How much of a fracture was it? Did little bits of the vertebrae get broken, or was it a complete break where the spinal cord separated? Is her spine lined up now or does she have some kind of bump where the fracture occurred? Can you describe what you saw on the x-ray or what the vet sa...

Hi Theresa, Hi Carol, Nice to meet you :). I saw your welcome post on the other thread - cheered me up. Thank you. "How much of a fracture was it? Did little bits of the vertebrae get broken, or was it a complete break where the spinal cord separated? Is her spine lined up now or does she have...

Heidi and her broken back
Evening all, I'm in the dumps with my sweet girl Heidi tonight. I feel like a very bad Mommy. Heidi's my sweet Yorkie girl. She and I live with my folks, and we also have three inside cats. She first started showing problems in/around September, when she began losing pee control. Thinking it w...

Re: Stuff I learned along the way
I too am very happy to find this forum, and to read the post and comments. My sweet Yorkie somehow managed to break her back about 2-3 months ago. She started out being incontinent, which she was treated for, but when she began skittering instead of walking, we knew something else was happening. Our...
