Urinary: More Info *LINK*

I am writting again about my dachshund my dog started to howl about4months ago, I was in another room so when I went looking for him he was in my bedroom on the side of my bed he was whimpering badly. I picked him up and he was crying and shaking badly. I took him to thke vet and she put him on predasone and a pain pill.. HE WAS ON THESE FOR TWO WEEKS, he had som feelilng in his legs(back) but not much he couldn't wag his tail. I kept him in his coupe because I didn't want him to hurt himself. My dog does not have bladder control which is a problem. I used to be able to express his bladder but now I can't,nothing comes out,yet when I put him in his basket he wet or poops, then hes cries to let me kno so I can cleen him up. I woul d like to know how othe peoples dell with this.I use thick pads as I have these for my husband who is diabled. jI have bought a wrap that goes around him and you pkut a sanitary pad in but it gets wet and has to be washed and it takes a long time to dry. I tried pampers but the ones I bought are too small, can anyone helpl me here as to what size to buy? He is a mini and he weighs 14 pounds. He wa litter boxed trained but of course now he can't go in,but as I said I put him in and I have been unable to express his bladder. I would appreciate any help and suggestions. thank you, Marilyn Disabled Dachshund Society...

havng knee surgery, need help with paralyzed i doxie I will be having knee surgery and I need some ideas on how to be able to put my dog in something other then his crate as I will not be able to pick him up to feed him and he doesn't walk. As of right now I keep him on pee pads on the couch but while i amlaid up IL will not be able to pick him up. wally weighs 14 pounds and he has been down for 9 months. He moves his legs once in a while and he has taken a few steps but that was three weeks and nothing sinse. He also stood up a few weeks ago and ate and drank his supper but nothing since. Wally never had surgery but he was on steriods and pain meds when it first happened. Like other people I was told to plut him down, but I am so glad I didn't these dogs show so much love and they are so thankful for all that is done for them. I would appreciate some ideas on how I can lift and carry him while I am laid up. wally's mo...

Re: stairs for paralysis

My weiner has been down since Oct. He hasa slipped disk. He does have deep pain feelings in his legs and toes. He also gets around on his cart. any info you can give me on the stairs will be appreciated. Thank...

Re: Can't find her bladder!

I too have a hard time to express my doxie's bladder (Wally) Sometimes I am just lucky and other times I am not It has been almost ten months for me and I still cannot find his bladder. I keep him on large pads and most of the time he has large stains of urine, other times he dribbles but that is mostly when he gets excited, I keep him in the wraps sometimes and he seams to go pretty well with these. He does have deep pain feelings which is good, I just wish he would walk. You are not alone about having a hard time expressing the blader, it is not the easiest thing to do.Hang in there you are not alone. Marilynb. ...
