Small update.

Sasha continues to drop weight, eating less and less, but still wants to go outside in his walker. We were out for over an hour yesterday. Lately he just sits on the bench with me on the front porch, but yesterday, he wanted to romp a little. You can see from the photos how much weight he's lost: ht...

Re: Miracle in the making!

I, too, can understand the catch-22 of boniness, behavior, heart, fluids, and the rest, having been through it with Tripoddy for the last year or so. It really is a balancing act. No good answers here... Thank you, Critters. You hit it the nail on the head - it's a real balancing act. I don't know ...

Thank you, BendyMom.
Sometimes, just the hugs, purrs and cuddles are the best medicine in the world.

Re: Miracle in the making!

Sorry, I am not getting notifications of new posts again and missed the last three. I did switch to a size 20 needle, but it made no difference. Sasha's muscles have atrophied so badly, I think when the needle is inserted, we may be touching the spine, either from him fighting or our trying to move ...

Renal Failure...

Since April 28, every spare moment has been invested in taking care of Sasha. The reason he appeared to have momentarily regained use of his hind legs was not a miracle, but a disaster in the making. Sasha's calcium and phosphorus levels had shot through the roof, causing both the twitching and the ...

Amy,

Please check your private messages here. I think a phone call will be much easier to discuss the idiosyncrasies of helping you express Miss Kitty's bladder with a little less difficulty.

Re: Miracle in the making!

When I posted here after returning from the vet's, I was completely heartbroken. For two days, every time I looked at Sasha, all I could see was a bullet lodged in his spine and the tears poured. But this morning, watching him crawl (run) around on his knees, using his hips (which certainly IS a mot...

It was just a fluke - not a miracle... :(

Had two new x-rays done of Sasha's spine today and very sadly, it's taken this long to find the real culprit. How the other vets missed this is literally beyond comprehension... Sasha has had eight x-rays not counting today, with four different vets, but only of the lower spine. I was about to have ...

Re: Point to ponder about filters in pet water fountains.

I take the motor's intake propeller apart every single day and clean it. Most are pretty tight to open the first time and if you don't have nails, you may need a pair of needle nose pliers or a pair of tweezers to get the cover and the magnetized propeller out until you get the hang of it. I bleach ...

That's an affirmative on the contractions and two splints are on the top of my "next to purchase" list. :thankyou:

Point to ponder about filters in pet water fountains.

I ran out of filters for my cat's fountain a while back and was getting ready to re-order, when something struck me. Rave reviews of these filters always mention the filter removing all the "gunk, hair, debris, etc..." from the water, but did you ever stop to think, that that very f...

Re: Miracle in the making!

:thankyou: :snoopy: (Tidbit: A never-seen cat lives next door to Snoopy. The main focus on this cat occurred in the 1970s, although Charlie Brown mentioned "the cat next door" as early as November 23, 1958. Snoopy often taunts the cat (usually starting with, "Hey, stupid cat!"), ...

Miracle in the making!

As some of you may remember, I adopted Sasha on December 12, 2009 with no rear mobility. Over the past couple years I've noted that there has always been some "action" with the hind legs and last summer, Sasha even stood on all fours for a few seconds at a time. He has always "crawled...

Re: Dislocated sacrum/NERVE DAMAGE/manual bladder expression

My apologies for leaving you hanging without a decent response. The last month has been a bit hectic with my dearest uncle walking steadily toward the Rainbow Bridge. A couple weeks ago, Sasha and I visited my uncle in the nursing home and uncle finally got to meet him. One thing about Sasha is he t...
