Re: Desperate - still struggling to express cat bladder

Miss Kitty's mom : It is great that you are doing so well with expressing Miss Kitty's bladder. We knew you could do it. With time it will become second nature. I could express in my sleep!! Zula's mom you really have to be commended for caring so much about Zula. Like Miss Kitty's mom suggested you...

Re: CA: Paralyzed Welsh Corgi Needs Help

So, the specialist said that his urethra is too small for him to be adequately expressed right? So, what is his suggestion? Was he a neurologist?

Re: CA: Paralyzed Welsh Corgi Needs Help

Carol what you said makes sense. If urine is dripping from his penis then it may all have to do with learning to adequately express. Buddy's mom did the vet work with you on expressing his bladder? It does take a while to master expressing but you can learn it with a little practice. When Caleb my p...

Re: CA: Paralyzed Welsh Corgi Needs Help

I don't know what I would do without Care Credit. That is how I can afford all these guys. Please try to get Buddy in ASAP. That urine backing up into his kidneys can so quickly lead to infection and acute renal failure. With you being in CA you likely are close to specialty clinics. Kansas has so f...

Re: CA: Paralyzed Welsh Corgi Needs Help

So, would the penis need surgery so that you could insert a catheter ? But, if he had surgery so that a catheter could be inserted then why not just express him. Any use of a catheter introduces infection. A permanently placed catheter seems like a continual source of infection. Louie was on daily a...

Re: I just need some hope/help

What did the UA show when you took her to the Vet today? Nerve regeneration is so unpredictable. I have a dachie that I was fostering for a local rescue group. He was given a very high chance of recover even though his DPS was difficult to elicit at the time of surgery. (Actually I think they gave t...

Re: CA: Paralyzed Welsh Corgi Needs Help

With a male cat who blocks continuously don't they do some type of surgery where they essentially make the cat into a female so it is less likely to develop a blocked bladder? Could they do the same with this little doggy? I agree about the catheter being a continual source of infection. My Pug Loui...

That is great news. Him being home is about the best medicine he could receive. It does sound like he is improving. He just needs some time.

Re: Cat hit by car, not using rear end or bladder.

I had a foster Pug named Louie. He was such a sweet doggy. He had been thrown from a car. Afterwards he had a slight limp. Then, it progressed to him being a paraplegic. By the time he came to me he was a quadriplegic. There is so form of paralysis that can become progressive if they do not have sur...

Re: Butterbean has a UTI :(

What bladder meds do you have him on? All of my paralyzed pets are on bladder meds. Of my 3 cats with Manx syndrome one is on bladder meds as well. I express mine 3x a day. I express them and then wait about 10 minutes and then express them again when the bladder reforms. IMO most infections are the...

Re: Jasmine

Is she on meds to make her easier to express? You could try decreasing them and see if she leaks less. Every one of my paralyzed guys takes half the dose recommended by the vet. I have dropped them to one time a day and have less washing to do and save a fortune on meds. I don't know if paralysis ha...
