Re: "Hunched" position after expressing bladder?

I would get a urinalysis done. I find the sudden increased fear of expressing, or dislike of expressing can often be related to bladder pain, which usually indicates infection.

Glad she has been doing well :)

Butterbean's fifth anniversary is on the 24th!

Five years, wow.
five years since this little guy arrived here. He has been quite the tale of tricky medical conditions but I think I mostly have him down now.

it also happens to be thanksgiving, Bean says it's "thanks for giving me a home" day!

Re: Urine infection & skin irritation

i hate it when they turn their noses up at the food that is best for them. ok, find some vitamin C powder, soemtimes it is sold for small animal pets, and give her extra vitamin C. This will help acidify her urine, as much as possible stay away from fish. I have a Cat It flower fountain, so it has l...

Re: Manx syndrome questions

Destin is poisonous to cats! PLEASE do not use it unless you are using an ecollar or pants or something to make absolutely sure she does not lick it, it can kill her. I almost lost my first incontinent boy to that. yes it is amazing for healing, but it is also deadly. i remember you talking about th...

Re: Manx syndrome questions

a lot of vets don't have much experience with it, I"m glad you foudn a vet to work with you. i have found the number one issue is to keep the gut moving, they get constipated so easily! fiber added to their food (pumpkin or physillum husk) and a lot of liquid are critical. some need medication,...

Re: Constipated Manx kitten

not throwing up is a big deal. is teh food the Royal Canin Intestinal Diet? I ask because I had mixed results with it, but I know some people who swear by it. Is she drinking a lot? Getting them to drink more is very helpful. I would think if she hasn't pooped by tomorrow morning (i'm on teh east co...

Re: Constipated Manx kitten

what a great little family. Is your pup a French bulldog? I don't see many of those so I'm kind of guessing. She is definitely a persian, she probably has spina bifida. It can happen in any breed, just more common in the manx breed. soemtimes posting photos can be very frustrating, i've had to resiz...

Bendy's brother Hermes is with him now

Hermes has been sick for a long time. We thought we were fighting pancreatitis, and a sinus infection that woudl not go away. But Friday night I looked at him and I knew. One thing I will say about taking care of so many special needs cats over the past 16 years is that I have gotten much better at ...
