I had a severely brain damaged baby, too

She, too, despised being on wheels, but I occasionally made her use them, like a walker. She FAR preferred to get around her own way, which I can only describe as "crabbing." It wasn't really a walk, nor a roll, but anyway... Kitties CAN do well in carts, but I'm not so sure about brain da...

*g*

Callie didn't give a rat's butt about all the bribery in the world when she was in her "torture chamber." I figured it wouldn't kill her to walk/stand in a relatively normal fashion once in awhile, but she disagreed. LOL-I'll never forget the thoroughly griped I'd-eat-you-if-I-could-walk d...

You're right.

It's SOOOO much harder to raise a young disabled kitty or pup without a sibling to learn from, and in some cases it's impossible to teach what they need to know (like grooming and using a litter box). My experience with older ones tends to be more mixed, but mine aren't siblings before the illness/i...

So the prosthesis didn't work out?

Tripods don't usually need any help(I have 2), but, if you're considering wheels, I'd check out the commercial sites (comprehensive link below) to see designs, etc. If you find something you like, then you can try to replicate it; I'll post the homemade cart link below. http://www.handicappedpets.co...

Some ideas...

Have you tried the other manufacturers, too? Some sell used carts as well; I posted a comprehensive link right below. Did you try the classified ad page here? Another idea is a cheap, new cart; check out tailwagon.com. A homemade cart can be done, too; here's the link to some of our ideas. http://ww...

PS

For exercise and rehab ideas try abledogs.net. They also have a VERY active email list you can join, and most of the people there have experience with this.

Re: Still improving...

For what it's worth, I'd wait on the other tests, too.

Name ideas: (you can translate)
Miracle
Phoenix (the bird that rises from the dead)
something like Feisty or Spunky

He certainly has made HUGE strides, so I wouldn't worry

much yet. Instead of A/D, how about switching him over to a canned kitten food? Science Diet and Iams both make it, as do others, I'm sure. It might save you a little money.

crating usually helps a lot. I don't know of any

back brace for puppers, but for support you might try abledogs.net and join their VERY active email list. Almost everybody there has done this.
