Re: Cat: broken pelvis+tail, eating+pee+poo problems, I'm sc
Feb.15.2012: This is a final and, I hope, not too compressed last post on this topic. June.27.2011: The Acupuncturist/Holisitic Vet came over to my house and spent quite some time examining Raz; she then asked me to express him, with the usual result. Then she had a go herself, with the same zero re...

Re: Cat: broken pelvis+tail, eating+pee+poo problems, I'm sc
Week 13: Fri.June.17: We really tried to express Raz this evening, but he was so incredibly hyper after the anaesthetic that it just wasn't worth the hassle; I will have to start my new 3-times-per-day regime (8am/4pm/12pm) tomorrow. Week 13: Sat.June.18: Poor Raz still can't talk properly today - h...

Re: Cat: broken pelvis+tail, eating+pee+poo problems, I'm sc
Week 12: Thu.June.09: I was up all last night reading about Urine Retention and didn't get to bed till 6am (I really must get a life one of these days), so poor Raz didn't get expressed till 13:30 (guilt, guilt). I sat down to express him with a heavy heart, fully expecting failure - but it actually...

Re: Cat: broken pelvis+tail, eating+pee+poo problems, I'm sc
Hi CarolC, Critters,
A very quick question: is it possible to reverse bladder atony?
Just a yes or no would be good right now. I will post in more detail later.
Many thanks,

Re: Cat: broken pelvis+tail, eating+pee+poo problems, I'm sc
CarolC: I did print the page, and showed it to the vet - see below for his comments. critters: I've been thinking about a tube - see end of post. Week 10: Tue.May.31: The Vet called this morning. It turns out that I misheard him on the phone yesterday - he said that he put Raz on Myocholine/bethanoc...

Re: Cat: broken pelvis+tail, eating+pee+poo problems, I'm sc
Week 10: Mon.May.30: The Vet called back this morning: he found absolutely no obstructions in the urethra. They observed him trying to urinate this morning, without success. He said that his guess was the detrusor muscle was clamped shut, and that the urethra also had high resistance. He also said t...

Re: Cat: broken pelvis+tail, eating+pee+poo problems, I'm sc
Week 10: Sun.May.29: Raz has been getting steadily more difficult to express over the last couple of weeks, despite first Diazepam, and then Phenoxybenzamine. The moment I had been watching slowly draw closer finally arrived last night, when I entirely failed to get one drop of wee out of him. After...

Re: Tight sphincter - defecation
I'd like to add my 10 cents worth - this is an absolutely brilliant post. I have been having exactly the same problem with my cat, and this post would have been really helpful, instead of just having to work it all out plus trial and error. Thank you for posting it.

Re: Cat: broken pelvis+tail, eating+pee+poo problems, I'm sc
Week 10: Fri.May.27: After everyone's supportive comments and helpful suggestions last week, we decided that Raz did not have struvite crystals, and just soldiered on. We got the phenoxybenzamine prescription from the vet (Dibenzyran), and I was horrified to see that he recommended 3/4 of a 5mg caps...

Critters: I'm sorry to hear about Buddy, I had thought he was still with you. But nice to heard that Koi is still improving. Way to go! CarolC: > You must be doing a lot of laundry...? Afraid not, I'm a real slut :) I have three ancient hand towels which I rotate; I rinse them out thoroughly after e...

Re: Cat: broken pelvis+tail, eating+pee+poo problems, I'm sc
Week 8, Fri.May.13: Quite a while since I last posted - goodness, doesn't time disappear. Things are now changing very slowly, not much is different from one day to the next, it is only when one looks back that one can see the differences. Life is definitely easier these days. We have a schedule now...

Week 6: Thu.Apr.28: No change today that I can remark upon. Week 6: Fri.Apr.29: No change today that I can remark upon. Raz is still really hard to express, and seems to dislike the process more and more. We have stopped giving him Bethanochol as of today lunchtime, to see if it makes any difference...

Re: Cat: broken pelvis+tail, eating+pee+poo problems, I'm sc
Week 5, Fri.Apr.22: It's still really difficult to express Raz, plus he is getting ever more uncooperative. I have got to find a solution to this. Sat.Apr.23: I tried a different way of holding him today, which definitely seems to make life eaiser. Rather than lying him on his side with his head fac...

Re: Cat: broken pelvis+tail, eating+pee+poo problems, I'm sc
Hallo again, Re thinking Raz's bladder still has 25% left in it: I think you may be right, and that what I'm feeling is a thick bag, but my paranoia about doing it all wrong is making me misinterpret what I'm feeling. And thank you for the link re the various sets of muscles - very comprehensive! Tu...

Re: Cat: broken pelvis+tail, eating+pee+poo problems, I'm sc
Hi there, Life continues ... on a daily basis one can't really see much difference, but over a few days there's definitely improvement. I've been keeping a daily diary so I can keep track. I'm continuing to post details here in the hope that our trials and tribulations are of some help to other peop...
