Kristen... You really should pose this question over at Dodger's list. You will get tons of reponses. I will say this...with Samy's history, I'm guessing that surgical intervention is eventually going to be needed again. As you have said...time can be VERY critical when dealing with IVDD cases. Now,...

No concerns with anesthesia due to paralysis. One of my vets was concerned about putting my older IVDD dog under because he is not paralyzed , and she was afraid that manipulation by the staff while Hunter was under might induce another rupture. I have had no vet/surgeon/neuro tell me there was any ...

Re: Barrett's legs
We jokingly mentioned to the vet amputating his paws/legs that cause so much problem because he is SO active except for this problem. He walks and even climbs 1-2 stairs in the house with his 2 front legs. He can hold his rear up like a "normal" dog. It is amazing. He will never regain us...

Re: Brachiel Plexus Injury
. Much to my concern he has been nibbled the nail on his duclaw off. We've tried and are still trying various ways to protect his paw from being nibbled. He's a chewer and will chew through boots. Ask your vet or neuro about Neurontin. It has been successful in other cases of dog self mutilation du...

Re: Need Help!! Should I have the surgery on my 12 yr Aussi
I can not tell you how much I appreciate your replies. I makes me feel soooooo much better that I am not alone. I have a mastiff, Lula, and Roxy the aussie and they are both 12+. I always mentally prepared for Lula to have struggles first being a Mastiff so it came as quite a shock when Roxy was di...

Re: Need Help!! Should I have the surgery on my 12 yr Aussie
My Aussie was recently diagnosed with Disc Disease. It first showed up in Dec 2007 but responded well to 4 weeks of extremed rest. Sadly, about 2 weeks ago it came back stronger than ever and every morning she has lost a bit more control. She is learning to scoot around and I ordered her a bottoms-...

Re: Onyx
Wow...this seems a little sarcastic and uncalled for. Billie did not say anything about putting Onyx down before her time.CarolC wrote: This is www.handicappedPETS.net, not www.handicappedPTS.net Here we learn to care for our handicapped pets, not put them to sleep before their time.
