Re: Back injury
I have seen a sort of sack that ties around their middle and encloses their legs and made from slippery material used so they can drag around without sores. I'm not sure where I saw it, though. Easy enough to make, if the dog will tolerate it.

Re: Golden Retriver Female incontinence
Here are a few causes. Urinary tract infection. They should catheterize her and check the urine for bacteria. If she is spayed, it could be related. Unusual for a young female, but not impossible. Usually urine leaks onto the bed while they are sleeping. DES treatment can be helpful. Could be neurol...

Re: free emergency medical care for shelter animals`
I don't know of any agency that provides care to any breed. But there are some breed-specific ones.

Re: front leg amputee: Kirby's story
This is a link to the story of my friend Ed's guide dog, Kirby, who lost a front leg to cancer. He not only got back on his feet, but he worked as a guide dog until the cancer recurred in his lungs a year later. He did hop along, and had to regain his confidence as well as his strength, but he did v...

Abledogs List
I see recommendations to join this list all the time; however, the last thing I want in my inbox is an active email listgroup. Can anyone explain why they don't have an online forum or archive, or, if they do, where it is?

Re: Wheelchair Dogs
That one is very INactive. I read Yahoo groups online although with their new policy about attachments that is kind of a pain. I belong to one that I would prefer to get emails for so I can see the photos, but some of the members insist on replying without deleting the attachments, so you get the sa...

Re: Abledogs List: here's the link
Thanks! I have a dog who uses a wheelchair and have been interested but couldn't find info on the link.
Re: Games
If he can get around, but just should not run, "Hide the toy" or "Hide the cookie" might be a good game. Put him on a stay or have someone hold him, and hide something he likes. Then tell him to find it. If he should not run at all, hide it under one of a number of bowls or cups ...

Re: any recommedations on doggie wheelchairs?
I recently got a Doggon cart for my corgi. It is wide, which gives him lots of stability, and he is comfortable in it and uses it easily.

Re: euthanasia
The cost is very much dependent on your veterinarian. It depends on the size of the animal and your locale, too. It is not very expensive- about the same as an office call plus a shot. You may be able to have the veterinarian come to your house; this would cost a little more but is easier on pets th...

Re: excellent explanation. Do you mind
Feel free. The other thing I would add is that if you have to wonder if it is time for euthanasia, it probably isn't. Odds are, you will know in your heart when it is time. But checking on the details ahead of time helps. Before I had to euthanize my first dog, during her final illness, I talked to ...

Re: link to a pic of Jess
Try http://www.k9carts.com Under accessories they have a female diaper that you insert pads into. It might be better designed to stay on a scootching dog. Further down the same page they have a sack that fits around your dog for scootching around in, and that might also help keep a diaper on. Good l...

Re: Winnie the paralazed dachshund
Someone somewhere suggested using a baby crib to confine their paralyzed dog. It was easier for them to take care of her and also easier to pay attention to her, and putting an absorbant pad in the crib made it easier to keep her clean.
