Re: mr brown

You might check out IMOM (I think they're IMOM.org) about the bills. Lots of people have gotten help.

Tripods usually do fine; you'll probably be able to rehab him yourself. I wouldn't go lining lots of stuff up until you know if he'll need it.

Good luck!!

I'm afraid I don't know what CP 7 is. Is it a diagnosis, or

a supplement?

Maybe somebody else will know about this.

We've never done this, so I'd ask the vet. With humans, you have to move the shoulder as soon as possible, but critters might be different.

Another idea

Humans usually use a soft helmet, made out of foam stuffing surrounded by leather, in a strip-type fashion for coolness and comfort (looks sort of like a snug-fitting leather cage). Maybe you could find somebody to make something out of, say, denim and foam? It'd be washable, too.

I'd use a reduced fat food with no free-feeding.

Also increase his exercise; ping pong balls, balls with a bell inside, and climbing towers (my monsters LOVE the $30 floor-to-ceiling models at Wal-Mart) are a hit with my crowd. Track balls, like Turbo Chaser, are popular as well. You can also try "fishing poles" (try a bell on it if his ...

Try this link, the Merck Vet Manual.

I might have another comprehensive link or 2, but most of them went when my computer crashed. :( Spunk, my blind punk, killed it.

Could you try making 1 out of Vet Wrap?

It's that wrinkly, sticky, elastic bandage stuff that comes in a bazillion colors. You can get it cheaper at KV Vet (KVVET.com) or maybe at your local feed-type store.

I'll try to come up with something better.

I had great success using human stuff, like a baby

backpack, with old Charlie; I got it free at a yard sale. Have you tried any of that? I can almost guarantee, even new, it'll be cheaper.

Toni's right; sometimes there's a problem with breaking the

stump open. With that said, I have a tripod kitty with a flipper who does just fine. My other tripod had a traumatic amputation mid-humerus (upper arm), and her arm was removed at the shoulder. Either way, tripods usually do GREAT. Like Toni says, look below; 1 kitty didn't do so well, but that was ...

Hmm. Will have to think about this.

I won't have access to a 'puter 'til Mon, so I'll mull it over until then.

No computer right now, not posting/checking as often

Spunk, my blind punk, arranged for my keyboard to fry the motherboard last weekend (she ate the keyboard). I check from work and won't have access all weekend. :( Am working on getting a "new" 'puter, none too soon. I'll check in on Mon.

There is a company that makes a lie-down cart;

I think they're the British company. Check the cart page here, as well as abledogs.net.

How about the sign for "no?"

It's not hard; I'll try to describe it for you later today, or you can find 1 of the sign language sites.

I don't know of anybody who's used them,

but I'd think they'd work fine. I also think it's a good idea.
