It was a training pant with an integrated cloth-like cover, somehow all waterproof--no rubber pants, etc. It seemed likely to be able to put up with the punishment fuzz butts give.

Maybe washable human diapers and rubber pants? They can be extremely cheap or free at yard sales. I like using Onesies to hold diapers on critter diaper butts. What size do you use? I think you're already ahead by having wheels so soon, IMO. Many people have to wait, and I think they might lose precious time.
