Re: not sure what to do now

thanks all...and especially you, christine. you were such a big part of our lives and healing...and i know that you share our grief (as i know many of you do). i just want my girl back. my girl, my whole girl, and nothing but my girl. i will never be the same person again. really...she made me who i...

Re: pros/cons for an amputee?

Re: AMPUTATION ADVICE AND HELP NEEDED

yes...we have all those experiences here. my soul-dog, xena, had osteosarcoma and front left leg amputation followed by chemotherapy and another 3 years of quality life. we've been through it all...and blogged the whole way until it got rather mundane and even boring. yes. life can be mundane and bo...

Re: not sure what to do now

liz and i were nearly killed together four years ago when lightning struck the tent we were sleeping in. fortunately...we both survived the ordeal and were out of the hospital after just one day. but since then, i did always worry about xena that way. not that i was afraid of what would happen to he...

Re: not sure what to do now

i just want to say that i am really touched that this thread is a sticky. i also want to say that i 'get' it about having favourites. the thing is...we DO have favourites, whether or not we acknowledge it. that's not to say that we aren't loving everyone to the best of our capabilities.... but there...

Re: New amputation, other pets

helen.... my very best advise to you is to just trust sammy. trust her. try your best to be in tune with her. she knows. she *knows*. you have to trust that. she knows what she can do, and what she can't. she knows her capabilities as well as her limitations...and knows this better than most humans ...

Re: New amputation, other pets

she is most likely holding it.
she will go when she's desperate enough.
xena went over 48 hours without peeing when she was travelling from canada to australia. she subsequently developed an iron bladder and could hold on for what seemed forever.
that actually came in handy.

wow.
how horribly tragic.
all i can say is...prepare yourselves to witness the impossible.
lucy will find her own way...if she has the will to do it.
the depression would be my first point of care.

Re: New amputation, other pets

hi helen i'm sorry to meet this way. sammy will toilet as usual. you'll see. i'd figure out a way to keep the rambunctiousness to an absolute minimum until, at the very least, the stitches are out. we didn't raise xena's bowl until her arthritis got bad. these are the basic answers to your questions...
