Re: end of life 16 yr old toy poodle how to know?
I forgot to tell you Masons age, he was fifteen and a half when he died. The vet said I had done a great job as Bassets usually only live to be 11 or 12.

Re: not sure what to do now
I so agree with Bobbi, I looked on Dogs in danger online and fell for a little dog set to be put down in four days. He was 25 or 30 miles from me. I drove there and he was the sadest ,uglyest pitiful looking dog. He had mange, worms ,every worm I think a dog could have, so skinny he was a bone with ...

Re: not sure what to do now
It gets better and you can remember with out crying. I can now sniff Mason's collar that still smells of him. I can remember how stubbon he was and how sweet he could be, how he could look at me with those sad Basset eyes and get treats . I have had dogs all my life and have four today, but Mason wa...

She is now walking but will not drink unless given by a spoon. She recently started eating by herself. This happened about 3 months ago and she just recently...

Re: Canine red mite mange
The vet told me that heart worm pills give some protection against the mange, is your dog on them? Teddy was a pound pup so he had not been on the heart worm pills. I started right away. Also I gave him dog vitamins and dog brewers yeast with garlic . The medicated shampoo really seemed to help with...

Re: Canine red mite mange
I agree with the infection. My pound pup Teddy, had mange and was treated for mange twice ,but would not heal and was red and stunk. I gave him human penacillion ( vet would not give him anti bioctics) and it healed up and hair has grown in.
